The Antarctic has done what he’s had to do in two starts to date, but I don’t think the form of his Naas win is anything special, so I’d look elsewhere.

The two Sioux Nation colts Bakeel and Brave Nation have won on their only starts, but I’d say the percentage call is with WALBANK , who looked very good when he won last time. He was second on his debut at Ascot, and he looks a fast two-year-old.

There’s a strong Irish challenge in the King George V Stakes. I think Newfoundland might just find this test a little sharp for him, but it’s no surprise to see him towards the head of the market.

YASHIN is one I’m particularly sweet on. I think he’s got good place claims in what is a competitive race. He looked vulnerable at stages last time out, but he was well on top at the line and has already won over 1m 4f. He’s got a good draw and I suspect he’ll be ridden handy to sit close to the pace, knowing he stays well.

It doesn’t look a vintage Ribblesdale this year. I think Sea Silk Road has done everything right and is clearly improving whereas it wouldn’t surprise me if this extra trip brought out plenty of improvement in History. It’ll be a watching brief for me.

The Gold Cup looks wide open, despite the fact that Kyprios is plenty short enough in the betting. He’s done everything right this season and could still have more improvement, but, as I say, he’s short enough. I don’t think Stradivarius has regressed as much as some people are saying he has and Mojo Star, who was very highly-tried last season, could be in the mix if he stays this trip.

I like the look of AMORETENTIA , who I think will have the race run to suit him in the Britannia. He’ll love a strong pace to aim at and you’d have to think he’ll have that here. He shaped well in three starts as a two-year-old, but showed he’d trained on with a good win at Naas last time. He was gelded over the winter and that’s brought some improvement out of him.

Reach For The Moon  would be a good Royal winner this week. It looks like they’ve campaigned him for this race and, if he runs to a similar level as he showed last year, he’s going to be tough to beat.

VAFORTINO  has already won a big handicap at Ascot this year. His trainer Kevin Philippart De Foy is in grand form and will be seeking his first Royal Ascot winner with this horse, who looks well drawn in stall 20 and looks to have a sound each way chance.
