14:30 Ascot - Regal Reality (each-way) 

The curtain raiser, the Queen Anne, features the shortest priced favourite of the week, Palace Pier. Barring any mishap, he should take all of the beating and stamp himself as the best miler in both the UK and Ireland, but he's going to be very short-priced.

At the prices, Regal Reality shouldn’t go unbacked as he’s got a very good chance of finishing in the frame. This horse really loves fast ground and, on his day, is better than plenty of these rivals. He’s run well in a few Group 1 races in the past and I expect he’ll go close with conditions set to suit.

17:00 Ascot - Just Hubert (each-way) 

National Hunt or dual-purpose license holder trainers have won this race for the past 10 years and they’re mob-handed again. However, I don’t think this is the best renewal of the race and, with the ground quicker than most of the protagonists would like, I fancy the chances of Just Hubert, who won’t mind the quick ground.

He’s always been talented and won a very competitive race of a similar nature and trip at Goodwood last season. He was a good third on his seasonal return at Haydock in heavy ground and this return to a better surface will suit him even more. He has great place claims with Betway paying six places on this race.

18:10 Ascot - Arthurian Fable (each-way) 

Much like the first contest, the favourite in this race is going to be very hard to be. Saldier was once a single-figured price for the Champion Hurdle and got his career back on track when bolting up at Listowel last week, but you would just question how he would like this faster ground.

With that in mind, it’s worth looking elsewhere for good each-way value and the Brian Meehan-trained Arthurian Fable looks just that.

He was a good fifth at Royal Ascot last year and ran well in defeat in other races on unfavoured soft ground. He returned to action with a good fourth at Newmarket last month. With that run under his belt and a return to his preferred quicker ground, I can see him going very well.

15:05 Ascot - Dhabab 

Very impressive on his debut at Leicester. Won in a good time that day and looks to have plenty of ability.

15:40 Ascot - Battaash 

He’s simply the best sprinter in the country and if he’s on a going day, he’ll be very tough to beat.

16:20 Ascot - Battleground 

His run in the 2000 Guineas was too bad to be true, but his two-year-old form was very good. Expect him to bounce back.

17:35 Ascot - Fox Tal 

Very difficult horse to get right but has plenty of ability and could go well in this grade.
