With £10,000 up for grabs on Saturday, here are Chad Yeomans' best horse racing tips for Ascot and Haydock to get you started.

14:25 ASCOT

The heavy ground at Ascot has had a big effect on field sizes, with only eight going to post in the Grade 3 Handicap Hurdle, though it’s still a very competitive affair with plenty of horses all in with a shout.

With conditions set to suit last year’s winner, Ballymoy , he could take a lot of beating on his first run back over hurdles this season.

He’s had three starts over fences, finishing a credible second all three occasions, but comes here with everything in his favour.

Plenty of onus will be on Pic D’Orhy , but he is still only a five-year-old whose better days are in front of him. This could be a tough assignment at this stage of his career.

14:40 HAYDOCK

The Peter Marsh Chase is always a great test of stamina.

It was won in 2010 by Our Vic, who was trained by David Pipe, and this year the Pipe stable saddle Champers On Ice .

He has been in great form over hurdles this season and appears to have been kept back with this race in mind.

He wasn’t a fluent jumper on his previous attempts over fences, but his connections have said they think he’s a different horse and he could have too much class for this field.

15:00 ASCOT

The 2m5f Handicap Chase has a field of 11 declared, and I think previous course-and-distance winner Kildisart will take plenty of beating, despite having to carry top weight.

He carries top weight for the simple reason – he’s the best horse in the race – and, with conditions in his favour and his stable back firing in winners, it would be wise to keep him on your side.

15:45 HAYDOCK

The last leg of the 4 To Win is a competitive 2m Handicap Chase, where there are two with standout chances.

The father-son combination of Nigel and Sam Twiston-Davies have had plenty of success at Haydock in recent years, and this drop back in trip should suit Muratello , who looked short of stamina over 2m4f recently.

The other selection worth noting is the David Maxwell-ridden Zizaneur  , who had every chance in the Fred Winter Hurdle last season before being slightly outstayed from two out.

He was tanking along when unseating his rider last time out and can make amends here.
