13:50 ASCOT: PEPPAY LE PUGH

Second choice: Caid du Lin

A quartet of National Hunt contests for Saturday’s 4 To Win, starting in Berkshire, where we have a tight betting heat to begin with in a seven-runner Handicap Chase.

It was a real stinker when PEPPAY LE PUGH fell at Warwick in September when 5/4 favourite for a similar race.

He has bounced back since, winning at Worcester last time out. Stepping up in trip here could suit, which would see the Skelton stable keep their great total for the season rolling on.

14:40 WETHERBY: DOUBLE SHUFFLE

Second choice: Regal Encore

The race of the day, and a field that has cut up since earlier entries, including Thistlecrack, fell by the wayside.

It’s wide-open, though, and likely favourite Black Corton looks opposable.

Three-mile chases on decent ground seem to be the best fit for the profile of DOUBLE SHUFFLE.

His form figures over exactly 3m over fences are 1-2-2, with the last of those a second in the King George at Kempton.

He can beat the favourite and get his head in front for the first time since December 2016.

15:15 WETHERBY: KEEPER HILL

Second choice: Monbeg Theatre

This is a high-class hurdle with horses that should be contesting races at the big festivals towards the end of the season.

Favourites have a shocking record with just one victory in the last decade.

I think we can rule out Clyne because he doesn’t strike me as being able to stay three miles. Old Guard is another that looks a doubtful stayer. All six of his starts at 2m 5f and above have resulted in defeat.

The McNeill family have their horses running out of their skin at the moment and the return to hurdling of KEEPER HILL looks a very good value bet against rivals with plenty of question marks against them.

He, of course, has his own doubts, particularly after failing to complete over fences the last three times, but I think this is shrewd placement.

15:35 ASCOT: TRAFFIC FLUIDE

Second choice: Play The Ace

A handicap chase that has only seen one winning favourite in the last 10 years.

Gary Moore won this with Antony in 2016, and has a fancied contender in TRAFFIC FLUIDE this year.

A reappearance run at Chepstow would have put him just right for this and he’s advised with confidence.
