13:30 Doncaster: DANCE LEGEND

Second choice: Fondest

It's the last day of the Flat turf season and this is a meeting that can sometimes throw up its fair share of shocks.

This Listed race has only had one winning favourite in the last decade and four recent winners returned at bigger than 12/1. Horses aged three have a fair record over that period with 50% of the honours.

Two horses at huge prices that interest me are DANCE LEGEND and Fondest. They both get a handy allowance for being at the youngest end of the range, both have also been winners this season – albeit in a lower grade.

There’s not too much to choose between the market principals in this contest and this is primed to go to an outsider, with preference for Rae Guest’s filly.

14:40 Aintree: WAR SOUND

Second choice: King's Odyssey

This is the only National Hunt race we need to find the winner of to scoop today’s prize and it's a classy handicap chase.

We haven’t had a winning favourite of this race in the last ten years but, interestingly, seven winners during that time have been either second- or third-favourite. The last four winners of this race were making their seasonal reappearance.

The two I like are WAR SOUND and King’s Odyssey, who were both consistent with placed efforts in decent races last season. My preference is for Philip Hobbs’s gelding, who can make amends for being a beaten favourite at Sandown back in April.

14:45 Doncaster: SEA FOX

Second choice: Cold Stare

We've got a seven-furlong handicap for horses rated up to 105 on the Flat here.

Three of the intended runners were beaten favourites last time out, which isn't unusual for this time of the season. Unusually, though, none of these were last time out winners.

SEA FOX has been defeated three times at big prices since winning a very similar race at Newmarket back in August. He’s also been a non-runner three times since that success, as trainer David Evans looks for his best conditions.

15:15 Doncaster: RESHOUN

Second choice: Everything For You

The November Handicap is the last big race of the turf season.

The draw is still significant despite the fact they are racing over 1m4f, as Town Moor’s bends play a part.

No horse drawn lower than nine has won this in the last decade.

RESHOUN is nicely drawn in stall 18, is a course and distance winner and is also representing last year’s winning trainer, Ian Williams. In a tough race, he should go very well.
