14:25 NEWMARKET
The opening leg of Friday's 4 To Win is the Betway Abernant Stakes, a Group 3 over 6f.
Last year's winner, Keystroke, features in a select field of seven, while Brando, triumphant in 2017 and 2018, also races.
I do think it’s worth siding with the younger, up-and-coming sprinter, OXTED , from the Roger Teal yard.
The son of Mayson has been successful in two of his seven career starts but showed marked improvement with each run and is clearly a Group horse.
Whether he’ll need the run is something only time will tell, but he won on his seasonal reappearance last year and has the talented Cieren Fallon in the saddle.
15:00 NEWMARKET
The Betway Paradise Stakes has a full field of 12 going to post and what a race this is shaping up to be.
SANGARIUS is the class horse in the race and will take all of the beating with conditions in his favour.
His trainer, Sir Michael Stoute, has started this season with a bang. His horses are in great form, and Sangarius has the assistance of leading jockey Ryan Moore on his back.
At a bigger price, Momkin could run well on just his second start for William Haggas.
He showed plenty of good form as a three-year-old last season under Roger Charlton, and a change of scenery can often be a plus. If he puts his best foot forward, he shouldn’t be too far away.
15:50 LINGFIELD PARK
The 1m4f Handicap looks a very tight race with just 3lb separating the field.
Brighton Pier is an unknown quantity having had just two starts, including a victory in his most recent race. He is clearly unexposed but being such a lightly-raced horse at four years old suggests he’s not been the most straightforward.
NATTY NIGHT ought to go very well on his first start of the season.
He’s got some very useful form in the book and was successful on his only start at Lingfield Park last June, when he bolted up by four lengths.
He’s been gelded during the winter and I’m hopeful he can continue his progression over a trip that clearly suits.
16:25 LINGFIELD PARK
The final leg is the 0-70 1m handicap and there will plenty of eyes on champion jockey Oisin Murphy, who rides Fortune And Glory for Joe Tuite’s yard.
I’d suggest he’s 1-2lb higher than his optimum mark, so for that reason, I’ll side with KENDERGARTEN KOP under the red-hot David Probert, who rode a treble at Kempton Park on Wednesday.
He’s got good form at Lingfield, including a successful ride off a mark of 65 last season. He’s currently rated 67 but has won on his seasonal debut for the past two seasons, so he clearly goes well fresh.
