14:45 Newcastle

The Vertem Eider Handicap Chase is one of the biggest stamina tests in the National Hunt calendar and it’s always a competitive race.

I like horses who have less weight to carry in these big stamina-sapping contests, so I’m siding with Hugo N Taz  for the David Pipe yard.

This is only his second start for the Pipe team, but he won on his stable debut with the minimum of fuss at Market Rasen and this additional trip doesn’t looks as though it’ll inconvenience him.

Rider David Noonan has been in superb form this year and he can get another big Saturday winner under his belt here.

15:35 Kempton

The Betway Handicap Chase is always a cracker of a race and has been won over the years by some fantastic names.

This year, I like the look of Harry Fry’s Just A Sting , who sneaks in at the bottom of the weights.

He can’t be over-raced, which is why we’ve only seen him twice this season, and he’s much better on better ground. He jumps and travels well and should be on the heels of the lead as they turn for him.

It’s hard to know where Ben Pauling’s horses are, as they seem to have hit a slight flat-spot again, but on his day Kildisart is very useful and could be well-handicapped.

15:55 Newcastle

Thor De Cericy doesn’t seem to run two races the same, but wasn’t beaten too far out of sight in the Champion Bumper last season, so there is obviously a certain level of ability there.

He’s a course winner, and an easy one at that, so a reproduction of that form on this ground can see him go close.

The rest of the field look exposed, so it could be a good opportunity for the Michael Scudamore-trained six-year-old here.

16:10 Kempton

The Heed Your Hunch at Betway Handicap Chase has attracted a field of 10 that includes recent Huntingdon winner, Ibleo .

If he is in the same vein of form that he was in on Thursday, he should take all of the beating here. He was good at his fences and moved away effortlessly from the rest of the field in what were testing conditions.

The Alan King-trained Mystical Clouds ran well in fourth, despite losing a hind shoe last time at Sandown Park, and could get into the places.
