TOP PICK: PERFECT CLARITY

PERFECT CLARITY has the excuse of softer ground for her defeat at Epsom last time out.

Returning to the good-to-firm ground where she was seen to great effect at Lingfield in the trial she can win this at a nice price.

TOP PICK: STRADIVARIUS

This is being billed as a match between last year’s unlucky second, Order Of St George, and the new boy on the staying scene, STRADIVARIUS.

I’m going for the latter, who I fully expect to cope with the step up in trip and be played at just the right time by Frankie Dettori, in this slightly smaller field for the race than usual.

16.20 Ascot: Stradivarius

TOP PICK: CORROSIVE

We are paying a huge seven places in this race, but for the purposes of the competition you need to find the winner.

That’s going to be tough, but I think I’ve seen lots to like about course-and-distance winner CORROSIVE.

He has the assistance of Josephine Gordon from the saddle, who would be an appropriate winner if she can land the spoils on Ladies’ Day.

17.00 Ascot: Corrosive

17.35

TOP PICK: CORGI

CORGI was a winner at Sandown earlier this month and can follow up here at the Royal meeting.

He’s shown a lot of consistency since having excuses for coming fourth on his debut at Salisbury on heavy going.

He was only three lengths away from the winner over this course and distance in May, on a day where the cards didn’t fall right.

He’s better than that and should show it here.

17.35 Ascot: Corgi
