Here are Alan Alger's top tips for Saturday to get you started...
12.55 SANDOWN
TOP PICK: ORIGINAL CHOICE
Second choice: Masham Star
There has only been one winning favourite of this race in the last decade, and plenty of double-figure priced winners.
Seven of the last ten renewals were won by horses aged four, so that’s probably our best starting point.
ORIGINAL CHOICE was a non-runner due to unsuitable ground last time it came up good to firm at York, so it’s a concern that he’s been left in this with absolutely no rain forecast.
But Sandown have watered the ground, so if William Haggas deems it suitable for him to run then we’ll take that as a tip in itself.
Masham Star was a winner last time out and is a decent alternative if not.
13.10 HAYDOCK
TOP PICK: GOD GIVEN
Second choice: Mrs Sippy
GOD GIVEN won the Betway Pinnacle Stakes over course and distance last month, and trainer Luca Cumani immediately named this race as her next target.
Her form looks rock solid in what looks a weak version of this race. Mrs Sippy, from the same owners, may give her most to do.
13.30 SANDOWN
TOP PICK: AWESOMETANK
Second choice: Gavota
There was a lot to like about the way AWESOMETANK won at Chelmsford last time.
That was a real confidence boost after she had refused to go into the stalls at York on her previous intended engagement.
She’s shown that she could be of Listed class and this will be her chance to get that black type, hopefully by taking the race.
13.45 HAYDOCK
TOP PICK: RAINBOW REBEL
Second choice: Koeman
RAINBOW REBEL ran reasonably well on his only start at Haydock, back in April on soft going and an inadequate trip.
He looks better suited to this distance and is well handicapped on his best form to run a big race.
He also has a good draw, the winner of this race in 2016 came from this exact spot.
