Top pick: Norway | Second choice: Dashing Willoughby

Aidan O'Brien's illustrious roll of honour at Royal Ascot includes no less than six Queen's Vases, three of which have come in the last four years.

NORWAY really caught the eye on his seasonal reappearance at Chester when ridden with patience in the Chester Vase, staying on down the centre of the track to finish an exaggerated eight lengths behind Sir Dragonet, who went on to come a close second in the Epsom Derby.

NORWAY was ridden more prominently in that race, but showed signs that he isn't fast enough for the 1m4f trip and that a step up would be what is needed to bring out further improvement

Providing the Derby didn't take too much out of him, he should be a major player here. A victory would most likely see him follow the same path as last year's winner, Kew Gardens, who won the St Leger later in the season.

Top pick: Agrotera | Second choice: Veracious

The Duke of Cambridge Stakes is a Group 2 for fillies and mares.

Rawdaa, trained by Sir Michael Stoute and ridden by Frankie Dettori, is currently at the head of the market but, with no experience of Ascot and the bare form of her only two career starts not making for inspiring reading, there is good reason to take her on.

My top pick is AGROTERA, who was a very convincing winner of the Sandringham last year after bypassing almost all of the field to win cosily.

The rest of her three-year-old season didn't quite go to plan, but she returned at Kempton in April to win the Snowdrop Stakes, beating many of the same horses that line up here.

She has been purposely kept for this race and is well worth backing each way with Betway, who are paying four places.

Top pick: Chief Ironside | Second choice: Robin of Navan

The Royal Hunt Cup is one of the most exciting races of the week with a huge field running the straight mile, where it often pays to side with more than one horse as there will be plenty of traffic issues.

Very high or very low draws have often found success and my top pick, CHIEF IRONSIDE, is well drawn in stall 28.

He looked like he had nicked the Group 3 Diomed Stakes at Epsom last time out, only to be caught in the final 75 yards. He has always been a horse of huge potential and is now improving enough that he could end up being much better than a handicapper.

In the capable hands of Jason Watson, this William Jarvis-trained colt should be fighting it out at the business end of the race.

The Group 1-winning Robin Of Navan is not to be left out. He could be well-handicapped and has looked on his way back to his best this season.

Top pick: Karak | Second choice: Southern Hills

The Windsor Castle Stakes is arguably the weakest two-year-old race of the week, but is always very competitive which makes it hard to find the winner.

Wesley Ward has won this race twice in the last 10 years and has two live contenders again, with preference for KARAK, who was visually very impressive on her debut at Belmont Park just under a month ago.

She was very green that day but still managed to negotiate a bend before quickening very well and, most importantly, she will have learned an awful lot from the experience.

On a straight track like Ascot, she may well take a lot of pegging back if she uses her natural speed to her advantage and plays 'Catch me if you can' with the rest of the field.

Southern Hills has bumped into two very good horses on his first two career starts, but may be a better class than most of these. It's certainly worth backing him each-way with Betway offering an enhanced four places.

OTHER WEDNESDAY TIPS

With Betway offering money back as a free bet up to £10 if your selection loses in the first race every day this week, I'll include a horse in the 14:30 who could help to kickstart your day.

My selection is MIGHTY SPIRIT  , who is yet to win a race in two attempts but may have gone under the radar because of that.

She showed obvious potential on her debut when she was slow coming out of the stalls and ran very green throughout until the penny started to drop, albeit a little too late.

She went off a well-supported 13/2 for the Marygate Stakes at York on her second start but just got pipped by Good Vibes, who had the benefit of an additional run and was due to line up in this race at a single-figure price.

With Good Vibes now a non-runner, the runner-up can be the flag-bearer for the form of that race and go well at a big price.
