With £10,000 up for grabs on Saturday, here are Chad Yeomans' best horse racing tips for Wincanton and Sandown to get you started.

14:40 WINCANTON

The opening leg of 4 To Win is an open-looking handicap, but I think it’s worth keeping on the right side of Maypole Class 11/4, who is learning with each run and is getting better with experience.

He was a good winner despite still looking green at Lingfield last time out, and can come forward again on that run and give his talented young rider, Jonjo O’Neill Jr, a good spin.

15:00 SANDOWN

The Veterans’ Final is always a very competitive race and this year is no different.

On Tour 9/1 has always had plenty of ability but hasn’t got it right on plenty of occasions, though he does do his best work at the end of his races.

He was well-beaten at Aintree last time out when going off as a 3/1 favourite, though his jockey reported he was never travelling that day, so that’s a performance you can just put a line through.

He’s now ridden by Richard Johnson and can improve on his third-place finish in this race last year.

15:15 WINCANTON

The 2m4f Handicap Chase is a 0-150 where runners include the 13-year-old Valdez 9/4, who was successful on his latest start at Hereford.

However, I do think that Gala Ball 3/1 is one to keep on your side from Philip Hobbs’ yard. He is very lightly-raced for a 10-year-old but does have some progressive form in the book.

He lost a shoe at Newbury last time out, so you can put a line through that performance, and this smaller field should play more to his strengths.

15:35 SANDOWN

The closing race of the day at Sandown Park is a 0-145 Handicap Hurdle.

November’s wide-margin winner, Totterdown 13/2 is still improving and is one to keep an eye on.

He went off a well-backed 5/1 favourite in a hotter contest than this in December, where he looked dangerous coming to two out before the real heavy ground seemed to tire him.

With conditions unlikely to be as testing here, he can improve on that fourth-place finish and end the day with another victory for champion jockey Richard Johnson.
