13:40 THURLES

Fakiera  should take all the beating in the opening contest at Thurles.

He’s yet to win in four starts but has run with credit in all of them, which were more competitive contests than this one.

He’s steadily improving and should be able to get off the mark here.

Gordon Elliott’s horses have been in great form all season and he should notch another winner here.

14:40 THURLES

The 14:40 is a really competitive handicap with plenty of runners where I’m expecting Gordon Elliott’s Sporty Yankee  to go very close.

He’s been running in races over in England but was very disappointing last time at Wolverhampton when nothing went right for him.

He’s not badly handicapped and looks sure to go well.

The feature race on the card is the Pierce Molony Chase and is a Grade 3 contest.

I’m a big fan of the favourite, Sizing Pottsie  , who is still improving and made light work of his rivals on his last two starts. He’s smart and will keep improving and is the rightful favourite.

I do think Dunvegan  is also worth keeping on side. He’s a bit in and out and not worth setting your watch by but, on his day, he’s smart and has as much talent as the rest of the field. He can certainly run into a place.

The Duggan Veterinary Handicap Chase is an open-looking contest and, while there are plenty in with chances, I’m siding with At Your Ease  for Arthur Moore.

He was a good winner at Limerick this time last year and, while he’s not been at his best in two starts since, this is a weaker contest.

He can be expected to give his rider Donagh Meyler a good run.
