The opening handicap of the Ebor Festival is a fast and furious 5½f dash, with the market headed by Saturday's Great St Wilfrid winner Dakota Gold  .

He won that race with a little in hand for the second time this season and, with connections looking to strike while the iron is hot, it would require some performance to win so soon after this weekend's success.

Gunmetal  was a late withdrawal from the same contest at Ripon on Saturday and, after a series of great runs in defeat this season, another pot is surely just around the corner for the David Barron-trained gelding.

Declan Carroll's stable star, Justanotherbottle  , ran another great race to finish a gallant fifth in the Stewards' Cup earlier this month, and has the services of James Doyle in the saddle again.

The Acomb Stakes is, as usual, one of the stronger-looking two-year-old races of the summer.

Goodwood maiden winner Persuasion  went into many notebooks on debut for a stable that has won this race in previous years with Phoenix Of Spain and Dutch Connection.

Joseph O'Brien saddles Vitalogy  , who defeated the highly-touted Arranmore on debut at Naas, with brother Donnacha takes the ride. That Arranmore form has since been franked with him winning at the weekend.

John Quinn is represented by Frankie Dettori's mount, Cobra Eye  , who won a maiden at Goodwood in great style. The form of that race has also been franked a number of times, with the fourth-placed horse, Impressor, making light work of a field at Salisbury last week.

This 2m handicap looks like it will serve as a preparation run for the Cesarewitch at Newmarket in October.

Martin Meade saddles Infrastructure  , who looked as though a step up in trip from 1m 6f would suit following his staying-on third over the same distance at Newmarket last time out.

Carnwennan  runs for Charlie Fellows. He's a course-and-distance winner who racked up a hat-trick of wins earlier in the season, although he did struggle last time out at Newbury in the Marsh Cup.

Sir Michael Stoute has his horses in great form and he saddles Melting Dew  , who is trying this marathon trip for the very first time. If the combination of that and his new mark of 91 work, then he could run well. He did win off a mark of 93 in July last year, after all.

The concluding Nursery Handicap looks a tough puzzle for punters to solve.

Oti Ma Boati  is unbeaten in three runs, and now appears for the first time for William Haggas following a stable move from Richard Fahey's yard.

Fahey himself has a runner in the thrice-raced Pop Dancer , who has been in the winners' enclosure on his last two runs following victories at Pontefract and Musselburgh.

Mark Johnston's juggernaut continues to roll on through August and he saddles four runners who all look to have solid chances. Homespin  catches the eye the most as the son of Speightstown seeks a hat-trick of wins following his latest success at Goodwood.
