But he bounced backed to form with a gallant second at Newmarket last time out and should run very well.

Indianapolis  won in good style at the Shergar Cup meeting and comes here looking to defy a 3lb rise.

Hughie Morrison saddles Hermosa Mundo  who has run better than the bare form suggests in three starts in this country following a move from Mike De Kock's South African stable. David Allen, who rides York better than most, takes the ride.

The Gimcrack is one of the key two-year-old races of the season and in previous years has produced winners such as Sands of Mali, Blue Point and Muhaarar – all of whom have gone on to become top-class sprinters.

Threat  will be the horse on most punters' lips following two narrow defeats on his last two starts at Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood as they seek compensation for those near misses. His trainer is still adamant that he's a Group 1 horse and, if that is the case, this could be his chance to get in the winners' enclosure.

Declan Carroll saddles Spartan Fighter  , who is now two from three following a couple of compelling victories at Ripon where he beat A'Ali and at York, where he made light work of a novice field. He possesses plenty of natural speed, but will this sixth furlong prove too far at this stage of his career?

The Nunthorpe Stakes is always a race to savour and this year is no different with an epic battle of the ages.

Ten Sovereigns  won the July Cup in sublime fashion and, if he can bring the speed he's apparently been producing at home to the track, then he'll surely take all of the beating.

Battaash  looks a different horse this year. He certainly looks more relaxed but he has been beaten twice in this race in the past two years, and may be vulnerable to his competitors.

Michael Dods is adamant that Mabs Cross  is in very good form at home and will mix it up but can the mare take the prize home for the trainer who won this in 2015 and 2016.

The final leg of 4 To Win is a wide-open 1m handicap where there are plenty in with chances.

Biometric  won the Britannia at Royal Ascot but struggled in Group 3 company next time out. Can this drop back to handicaps prove a winning move?

Charlie Hills' horses are in good form and Pogo  has been unlucky in various starts this season, so shouldn't be overlooked under Kieran Shoemark.

Nahaarr  won on his first four starts, taking each victory convincingly for William Haggas, whose red-hot form has been well-documented of late. He was beaten by more exposed horses at Newmarket recently but did shape as if he needed a step up in trip and tackles this 1m distance for the first time here.
