The Lowther Stakes kicks off Thursday's competition. 

It looks as though Liberty Beach  is going to start favourite, and the John Quinn-trained filly is going to take all the beating. A winner on four of her five starts, she was also an easy winner of her group on the one exception at Royal Ascot after finishing fourth despite being drawn on the far side.  

James Tate saddles two in the race with his main hope appearing to be Under The Stars , the mount of PJ McDonald, who is in red-hot form at the moment. She has won both her career starts starting with a maiden at Ripon before impressing in a Group 3 at Ascot last month. 

William Haggas has taken this Group 2 prize home twice in the past 10 runnings and relies on the once-raced filly, Wejdan  , who went into plenty of notebooks on her debut at Newbury just over two weeks ago.

She did everything wrong that day yet still managed to run down a horse who already had racecourse experience, with this race highlighted as a potential target straight afterwards.

The Goffs Yearling Sales race offers exceptional prize money and, as a result of that, is always fiercely competitive.

In the past 10 renewals, it has been won by Richard Fahey (twice), Richard Hannon (twice), William Haggas (three times), Kevin Ryan (twice) and Tim Easterby (once).

And it's one of those trainers who looks to hold the aces again with Hannon saddling recent Ascot maiden winner, Mums Tipple  . Well-supported before that run, the Footstepsinthesand colt overcame greenness to make a winning start, and now has the formidable Ryan Moore in the saddle.

Fahey saddles six runners with Show Me Show Me  his most likely candidate following a recent third in the Molecomb Stakes at Goodwood.

Towards the bottom of the field, Frankie Dettori rides Piece of Paradise  for Fozzy Stack. This horse is beautifully bred and won on her most-recent start at the third time of asking, having been well-supported in the market before the previous two.

The third leg of Thursday's competition is the ultra-competitive Clipper Logistics Handicap, which mirrors plenty of other 7f handicaps with many of the same faces reopposing.

The current market leader is Kynren  who is due a victory in one of these handicaps following three gallant efforts this season. He hasn't actually won a race for two years, but always runs well and has a good record at York. Robert Winston takes the ride again.

Mark Johnston won this race last year with Poet's Society and this time relies on Bunbury Cup winner Vale Of Kent  . Despite finishing 13th on his next start after that, he managed a fine second at Goodwood behind Beat Le Bon (who is now Group race-bound) and has the services of Dettori in the saddle.

The final leg on Thursday is the Sir Henry Cecil Galtres Stakes with an 11-strong field going to post.

Irish trainer Dermot Weld won this race with Pale Mimosa in 2012 and this year bids for glory with his unexposed filly Search For A Song  who ran very well behind Star Catcher in the Irish Oaks last month on just her third start.

Frosty  is the sole Ballydoyle representative on just her second start of the season following an eye-catching comeback run at Gowran Park just over a week ago. She is well-related and was highly-regarded as a two-year-old, although has clearly had her issues.
