After day one I'm joint-top of our yard tipping competition thanks to Summerville Boy's win in the Supreme.

Though, the fact that I'm only joint top suggests somebody could be copying my selections and I may have to call a stewards' enquiry!

Tuesday was a great start to the Festival.

We got to see a different side to Buveur D'Air in the Champion Hurdle.

He'd won everything in the buildup to the Festival without coming off the bridle but he had to get down and fight against Melon.

Without a doubt the most visually impressive winner of the day was Footpad.

Aside from a bad mistake early on, he was foot perfect and the yard are already talking about a tilt at next year's Gold Cup.

I really like the look of Gary Moore's Benatar  .

We've had to chase him home on a couple of occasions this season, and I know that the yard think really highly of him.

They've suggested he could be good enough to go for something like the Ladbrokes Trophy next season.

Whataknight   is very well in himself.

We've kept him back for this and is definitely off a competitive mark based on some of his best form.

Conditions will be very testing but he'll still take his chance.

We certainly aren't complaining about the soft ground, though, as it suits a couple of my other runners this week.

Heart says Cue Card , head says Un De Sceaux  .

Cue Card ran a good race at Ascot last time and it would be great to see him win this, but Un De Sceaux looks in as good a form as ever and goes well in the ground too.

It's a shame Waiting Patiently isn't running as I think he would have had a big chance.

Unowhatimeanharry  stays three miles in soft ground and that's a lot more than can be said for most of them.

We deliberately took the view to keep him back for this after Ascot where he didn't show his true form.

His work since has been great and we feel he is somewhere near being back to his best.

He came through a recent gallop with flying colours and Noel Fehily said he couldn't have been happier with him after schooling him last week.

Having won on him at Punchestown last season and the Albert Bartlett in 2016, I know Noel is delighted to be back on him again.

Sam Spinner  is the one we've all got to beat.

He's a strong stayer and will go well in the ground, but the more that I look at the rest of the field the sweeter I become on our chances.

4.10

Drumcliff  has got his act together this season over fences.

He was very good at Ascot before being well beaten in the Betway Kingmaker Chase at Warwick.

The only real reason we ran him there was to get him his third start over fences to qualify for the handicaps, so I wouldn't look into that run too much.

I thought Go Conquer  could go well at a big price if he recaptures some of his form from earlier this season.

I think it will be a case of what price for next year's Mares' Hurdle for Laurina  ?

Maria's Benefit  is 3lbs higher on ratings, though, and if any of them can give her a race it could be her.

Although sometimes it may seem like it, Willie Mullins can’t win everything all week!

Having an experienced jockey in this race is key.

Gina Andrews won this last year and could be worth following again on Actinpieces  .

My assistant Michael Legg rides Millanisi Boys  and Aine O'Connor, who has ridden a couple of good winners for us this season, is on West Wizard  - so good luck to the both of them.
