THE EXPERT: ALAN ALGER

After a reasonable profit on day one, I’m going to be a bit bolder today with two horses that I just can’t see being out of the frame. 

TURNING GOLD  has an outstanding chance in the 16.50.

He will relish the conditions and has a trainer that just knows how to get his horses to Prestbury Park ready to run their race.

In the Champion Bumper (17.30), I think ACEY MILAN  will make a mockery of, what looks on paper, a competitive field and run them ragged.

He has ticks in all the boxes and warrants plenty of attention.

My advice is to back both with £1.50 each-way singles and then the pair of them in a £2 each-way double.

THE TIPSTER: TOM SUTTON

It didn’t go as planned yesterday after La Bague Au Roi hit the final fence but, nevertheless, we go again.

The first double is quite simple, with £5 on SAMCRO to win the Novices’ Hurdle (13.30) and ALTIOR to win the Betway Champion Chase (15.30).

They’re easily the best two horses in their respective fields and are both in a hot streak of form.

Unless something special happens, this looks a banker.

I’m going to use the other £5 on an each-way double on BLACK CORTON in the 14.10 and ACEY MILAN in the 17.30.

The former has won seven of his last eight with Bryony Frost in the saddle for all of them.

He’s a fantastic jumper and has only finished outside the top three once, so should definitely place.

The latter is already a course-and-distance winner here in January and destroyed the field last time out at Newbury, so he should also be right in the thick of it.

THE PUNTER: TOM CLEE

Not the best of starts yesterday but I’ve still got faith in my sources.

BALLYOPTIC  is a lively outsider for the Nigel Twiston-Davies team in the 14.10.

A Grade 1-winning hurdler, he’ll get the distance no problem and will relish the cut in the ground, so might just cause a shock at a very decent price.

RED INDIAN  is another who will love the ground in the 14.50 and should enjoy this stiffer stamina test, too.

He’s a tough gelding who has made the frame in his last four outings, with a huge price that belies his chances of being there or thereabouts.

Finally, I’m backing BLACKBOW  in the last (17.30).

Willie Mullins has a great record in this race and this five-year-old, who is yet to be beaten, is the pick of his five runners.

The soft going isn’t an issue and he should encounter little traffic as he powers up the hill to, hopefully, bring us home and into the lead.
