13:30 Turners’ Novices Chase

MIGHTY POTTER 10/11 is one of my strongest fancies of the week. I wasn’t impressed with his debut over fences, but he’s improved plenty since that and I was very impressed with his victory at the Dublin Racing Festival.

I really like the way he pulled clear after the last and I think he’s a proper horse. I’ve got respect for Appreciate It, but I really do think Mighty Potter is the best horse in the race.

14:10 Pertemps Handicap

THANKSFORTHEHELP 7/2 is my selection in the Pertemps. He’s the chosen mount of Mark Walsh, who had the option of Gavin Cromwell’s horse, who was a good winner at the Dublin Racing Festival.

The David Pipe-trained horse got an 11lb rise for the victory at Chepstow and that gets him into the race on a lovely handicap and I think he’s got great place prospects.

14:50 Ryanair Chase

Everything boils down to Shishkin 10/11 and, if he’s in the same form that he was at Ascot a few weeks back, he’s going to be a tough nut to crack. That race wasn’t long ago, though, and that’s a concern. He needs the trips now.

I think JANIDIL 6/1 is a solid each-way alternative. He looked like he needed the run at Gowran Park but quickened twice and was a good winner, beating a good horse from the same yard [Haut En Couleurs] who is fancied for the Plate.

He was second in this race behind Allaho last year, so you know he’ll act around here.

15:30 Stayers’ Hurdle

The Stayers’ is wide open – it’s a really good renewal. Flooring Porter 5/1 has won the last two and the vibes seem positive from the yard, but there are a few new kids on the block.

Teahupoo is very good and will love the ground. He’s achieved plenty this season and, while I think he’s got a great chance, you have to respect BLAZING KHAL 7/2, of whom there is plenty more to come.

16:10 Plate Handicap Chase

I like ESCARIA TEN 25/1 in the Plate. He’s been campaigned over further, but I’ve long felt he should be tried over an intermediate trip, and I think he’s worth chancing at a massive price.

16:10 Jack De Bromhead Mares Novices’ Hurdle

Luccia looks very short in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle but opposing her isn’t easy.

I’m going to side with Gordon Elliott’s HALKA DU TABERT 10/1. She was third behind Ashroe Diamond last time but I don’t think they made enough use of her. She’ll get a good pace to aim at and I think she’s better than what she showed the last day.

17:30 Kim Muir Challenge Cup

I’ve been very sweet on STUMPTOWN 9/2 since his win at Sandown. I thought it was a good move to make use of his British mark before Cheltenham. He loved the railway fences there and jumped like a stag.

The one spanner in the works could be Angels Dawn for Sam Curling – whose horses are in good form – but they’ll need plenty of luck in running as they’ll come from off the pace.
