While the two Irish contenders have headed the market for the Triumph all season, Tritonic burst onto the scene with a good win at Ascot.

He then bolted up at Kempton last time and I was sold. Jumping isn’t such a big thing in this race as there are only two hurdles in the last seven furlongs.

He was rated 99 on the Flat, so is clearly very good, and I think he’s the one to beat.

Jumping isn’t as important on this new course, so Buildmeupbuttercup  could go really well. She’s a strong traveller who was fourth at the Festival last season and she’ll love to follow a strong pace through the race.

On ability alone, she’s up there with the best of them in this race.

The sponsor of the Albert Bartlett owns Stattler , so you know that he’ll be trying to win this. It will have been his target all season. He was a good third at the Dublin Racing Festival behind Gaillard Du Mesnil and he’ll love this step up in trip.

He’s lightly-raced but, with the quicker ground, that won’t matter and he should be competitive.

It would be amazing if Al Boum Photo  won his third Gold Cup in a row.

It would put racing in the headlines for the right reasons and, looking through the field, he really is the one to beat.

You know what you get with him. He travels, jumps and stays, and, considering there are plenty of confirmed frontrunners, he’ll get a strong pace to attack at. You can’t fault what he does and he’s simply the best horse in the race.

Staker Wallace  is really lightly-raced and ran well in this race last year. That experience will stand him in good stead this time around.

He’s a smart horse and, with few miles on the clock, he could still be improving.

Elimay looks a good thing, doesn’t she?

She’s very good against her own sex and, in fairness to her, she’s good against the boys, too. This doesn’t look the strongest contest and, barring any accidents, she’ll be tough to beat.

I like the look of Fire Attack  in the Martin Pipe.

He’s always has a good reputation and has been highly-tried this season. He was a good second to a smart horse of Noel Meade’s at Punchestown last time and a reproduction of that run will see him go well under Oakley Brown.
