13:50 NEWMARKET

The Rosemary Stakes is a Listed race for Fillies and Mares over 1m.

You couldn’t help but be impressed with the way that Bounce The Blues  travelled at Doncaster last time out.

It was her first start for Betway ambassador Andrew Balding after being purchased from John James Fearne’s yard, and she looked the winner for much of the race.

She didn’t have the easiest of passages but stuck on gamely to finish third over that 7f trip, and this extra furlong shouldn’t be an issue to the daughter of Excelebration.

After winning her first two career starts, Fooraat  has been pitched into Group 3 company and has run respectably both times.

She clearly has ability and will keep improving with racing, so it’ll be no surprise to see her run a career best under William Buick, either.

14:15 HAYDOCK

The opening Apprentice Handicap has a really wide-open feel to it but, based on his smooth success at the course two weeks ago, it’s fair to say that Vulcan  make take some stopping.

He was pitched into some very strong maiden and novice races as a two-year-old, which suggests his trainer thought he was more than capable to acquit himself.

He often ran well without troubling those more forward types, but he’s starting to see it all come together now and has hasn’t been out of the first two on his last three starts.

He has been put up 4lb for that recent win here, but with Saffie Osbourne – who has ridden two winners in her last three races - coming in for the ride to take off 5lb, he’s essentially 1lb well in.

16:45 NEWMARKET

The final race of the day at Newmarket is a Class 3 Handicap over 1m 1f.

There are a couple of improving and unexposed three-year-olds towards the bottom that you could make a very good case for, but they have to improve again on what they’ve shown.

With that said, the proven Marronnier  looks a safer option, especially over this trip.

He almost gets going too late over 1m so this extra furlong should be in his favour. He’s run well in three starts in competitive handicaps this term, despite having next to no luck on each occasion.

He has won on both good to firm and heavy ground, so he’s versatile with regard to conditions.

17:35 HAYDOCK

Lord Neidin   needed every yard of the 1m trip at Chelmsford 15 days ago, and he looks sure to appreciate the long, galloping straight at Haydock in his bid for back-to-back successes.

It took him six career starts before he shed his maiden tag, but he was running in some hot contests at the back end of last season.

With conditions looking to be in his favour, he should go very well under Martin Harley, for trainer Alan King.

The same could be said for ex-Alan King-trained Aweedram , who is having just his second start for trainer Kevin Frost.

He may need to come down a couple of lb in the handicap before he gets his head in front, but he’s a very smart horse on his day and ran better than the form suggests at Doncaster last time.
