GOODWOOD

I’ve just got one fancy at Goodwood on Friday and that’s a rare runner for Gordon Elliott with TRONADOR  (13:50).

He ran very well over hurdles at Bellewstown over a trip that was too short for him. His previous win on the flat came at Limerick and that form has worked out well, with the second coming out and winning at Galway earlier this week. He creeps in off bottom weight and looks a good each-way selection.

GALWAY

The 18:00 is a very valuable race but isn’t the most competitive renewal of the race I’ve seen. DESERTMORE HOUSE   won impressively at Kilbeggan last time and looks a horse on the up. He is very inexperienced but did win a point-to-point and the flip side to that is that he’s likely got plenty more improving to do. He’s a strapping sort and we know his trainer Martin Brassil doesn’t over-face his horses, so he wouldn’t be running him if he didn’t think he would cope with the test.

I like the credentials of ZOFFMAN  in the Premier Handicap (18:35). He won a valuable race last season and at the back end of the season turned a corner and showed real improvement. He got rolling too late on his comeback effort at the Curragh, but this stiff finish will bring out the best in him.

CHALLY CHUTE can also run well off the back of his good success at Killarney last time.

There’s a big field for the 19:40. Partisan Hero didn’t win on handicap debut last time but did look ahead of his mark, so for connections has to be highly respected. But the same comment applies to NAVY BEACH  , who I really like. He’s a well-bred horse, he’s a Galileo colt out of a really smart mare, and he’s caught the eye massively on his last two starts.

Galway would have no doubt been his target for some time, and the fact he creeps in at the bottom of the weights means it looks like the plan is coming together. All he’s got to do now is go and win!
