Gary O'Brien: I'm expecting a big run from Busselton
The Irish racing broadcaster reveals his fancies for the Galway Summer Festival on Friday.
The opening race is a tidy one for those who wouldn’t have made the cut for the Galway Hurdle. Hearts Are Trumps (17:00) looks as though he could have been laid out for this race. He had a recent blow out on the flat and I think that might have put him spot on for this. He’ll have a big shout at the level under Mark Walsh.
There are two others who could run well, too, including Ebasari , who won well last time.
Looking at his connections, Teed Up could well live up to his name. He's another I fancy.
I’m, expecting a big run from Busselton in the Galway Blazers Chase (18:00). He’s still only five so should have more room for improvement in him. Although he was a shade disappointing at Down Royal in June, he won a maiden over 1m4f at Roscommon last time and that will have got him cherry ripe for this.
He finished second to El Barra at Punchestown on his last start over fences and runs in a lesser race off the same mark.
The Fillies’ Maiden (19:10) looks wide open, but I like the look of Accomplished , who is a half-sister to Derby winner Authorized. She only had one run last term, but she really caught the eye in her only run of this campaign, finishing fourth at Navan in April. She made up plenty of ground there before tiring late on.
I think she could sneak into a place.
