It’s a relatively quiet weekend for me with just the two runners at Cheltenham over the two days.

Friday

I run Wotzizname  in the Unicoin Group Handicap Chase (2.30pm) having decided to go down this route rather than the novice one.

He won really well at Exeter last month and, not only will he stay further than this, he will really appreciate the soft ground.

Depending on how things go, he holds an entry in the Welsh Grand National which could be an option, but let’s see how he gets on here first.

Despite his lack of experience over the bigger obstacles, I am hopeful he can run well.

Saturday

My only runner on Saturday is Lamanver Odyssey  in the mares’ handicap hurdle (3.40pm).

She was impressive at Wincanton last time and initially went up 5lbs for that effort.

However, Midnight Tune has since come out and bolted up at Wincanton, meaning we have gone up another 2lbs last week just for sitting in our box.

Hopefully that won’t make the difference as she is a tough mare who is still improving.

The trip and ground look ideal and she is another who will get further in time.

Noel [Fehily] rides her this time, which is also a positive, as he couldn’t do 10st last time.

Fingers crossed she can go well again.

International Hurdle

I’ve no runner in the International Hurdle (3.05pm), but will certainly be a really interested observer.

It will be fascinating to see Melon take on The New One and My Tent Or Yours in what looks an intriguing contest.

The New One bids to win the race for a fourth time, ran a cracker in the Greatwood last month and handles the ground well.

I wouldn’t like to nail my colours to any particular mast as a strong case can by made for all the leading protagonists.

Kylemore Lough

I decided against running Kylemore Lough in either the rearranged Peterborough Chase or the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup as I wasn’t happy with him earlier in the week.

It’s nothing serious, he just wasn’t 100 per cent and for that reason we will wait until the New Year before making any fresh plans for him.

American

Another one we will be waiting with until the New Year is American.

I always said that I wanted to give him time to get over his Newbury exertions, so he won’t be heading to Chepstow for the Welsh National.

Ascot next weekend

Next weekend looks like being really busy with Unowhatimeanharry still bang on course for Saturday’s Long Walk Hurdle.

We plan to run plenty of other really nice horses there, too, including If The Cap Fits and also Air Horse One in the Racing Welfare Handicap.

There is plenty to look forward to.
