Last weekend at Chepstow

We were very pleased with Misterton at Chepstow last weekend.

Despite winning his previous race over two and a half, the step back to two miles wasn’t a problem at all.

It was a very nice win and there could be a graded race in him soon.

He’s got a mark of 130, so he’ll probably go for another handicap race first before hopefully going on to tackle a graded contest.

As for Drumcliff and Bags Groove, they both ran fair races.

They’ve come out of the race fine and it’s likely they’ll both run again fairly soon.

Stratford on Saturday

I’ve got three at Stratford on Saturday, kicking off with Litterale Ci (2.30pm) in the two-mile mares’ handicap hurdle (2.30pm).

She put in a couple of nice runs without winning last season and we’re hopeful of getting this season off to a good start.

She’s been doing plenty of work over the summer and this could be the perfect starting point for her, though there’s a long season ahead and she should come on for each run.

Voix D’eau (3.00pm) simply did a bit too much early on last time in a class two race at Southwell back in August and was pulled up as a result.

He’s in good form coming into this and should make a better account of himself.

The ground at Stratford should be good come Sunday, too, which will suit.

It’s still early days with Mr One More (5.15pm), who won his only start in a bumper at Bangor last season.

Both him and Litterale Ci haven’t run since the winter but have both looked fit at home.

We were pleased with the win first time up and he’s entitled to go well here, while hopefully there’ll be more to come from him as the season goes on.

Kempton on Sunday

I’ve runners in a pair of Listed contests at Kempton on Sunday.

Taunton bumper winner Cockney Wren is reappearing in the Listed novices’ hurdle (3.15pm).

She’s a sister to Cockney Sparrow, who was a very good mare and we’re hoping she can keep progressing.

The race looks like a really nice opportunity to get some black type.

My other chance is with Hint Of Mint in the Listed hurdle (4.20pm).

We’ve got a bit to find on ratings, with the likes of Old Guard and Rayvin Black in there.

Noel Fehily will ride Optimus Prime for Dan Skelton, too, and he looks another big danger in a hot race.
