SECOND STEP  finished second in this race last year to King George winner Poet’s Word, and I think he’ll go one better this time.

His last seven runs show very impressive form (1221-221), with those seconds coming to the likes of Lord Yeats, Desert Encounter, Crystal Ocean and the aforementioned Poet's Word.

The seven-year-old seems to like it here and has a course-and-distance victory last May in a Listed race.

Atzeni returns after a day at Nottingham on Wednesday and can hopefully get back to winning ways.

I tipped OSTILIO  when he won the Britannia at Royal Ascot, and I think he can come out on top again here.

He comes into the race in superb form for Simon Crisford (222-211) and looks comfortable over the mile.

Threading poses a big threat but I think Atzeni could be on for a quick-fire double here.

This Golden Mile is a really tough race to call, so I’m going for two each-way punts.

The first is ORIGINAL CHOICE  for the in-form pair of William Haggas and James Doyle. 

He finished a nice third here in the opening race on Tuesday, and this looks a smart decision to make the drop back down to a mile.

A nice victory in the Wetherby Hunt Cup in May enhances his credentials, and he should go close at a nice price.

The other I like is POET’S SOCIETY  . 

He's another who has already featured this week in the final race of the day on Wednesday.

Mark Johnston’s four-year-old is incredibly experienced with 53 runs and has tasted victory here in June.

Frankie Dettori’s booking is a nice one and this is a tasty-looking price.

I'll keep it short and sweet here, as last year’s winner BATTAASH  should sail home again.

He won by 2¼ lengths that day and has won the Group 1 Prix De L’Abbaye at Chantilly since, and also put in a big performance when runner-up to Blue Point in the King’s Stand.

Charlie Hills’ gelding should take all the beating, but if you want more value then I’d add Kachy  in the straight forecast.

He was incredibly impressive in the Conditions Stakes at Chester in May and did win here in his second run back in 2015.

Plenty are expecting Godolphin’s Leading Spirit to ease to victory here, but I think BAREND BOY  could trouble him at a nice price.

A runner-up spot to Marie’s Diamond on debut looks impressive in itself, and even more so considering the same horse finished second in the Richmond Stakes on Thursday.

A victory at Lingfield last month finally got him off the mark and, with Jason Watson’s 5lb claim on board, he looks a nice each-way chance.

SEQUILLA  looks a very interesting filly for Andre Fabre, having won back-to-back races in France over 5½ and 7f. 

Frankie Dettori takes the ride and won this race on board French raider Al Jazi last year, so could easily follow suit again.

I’m also going to give an each-way shout to Mick Channon’s DAN’S DREAM .

She enjoyed a very impressive win in a fillies' Group 3 at Newbury in April, beating the likes of Tajaanus and Dance Diva in probably her most impressive performance thus far. 

I think we can draw a line under her run in the 1000 Guineas, and she should run a much better race here.

For the final tip of the day, I’m going for Mark Johnston’s unbeaten colt HIBERNICUS .

He won easily on debut at Carlisle before obliterating the field at Pontefract last time out, sailing home by 12 lengths despite carrying top weight at 9-9.

He will have to defy top weight again at 9-7 but, based on his both performances so far, he looks a very exciting three-year-old.
