It’s fortunate we have our offer insurance here, because this looks an incredibly hard race in which to find the winner.

One that does stick out at a really nice price is OEIL DE TIGRE .

Tony Carroll’s seven-year-old comes into the race in solid form, having notched four wins and two seconds from his last eight trips. 

He won here three times on the bounce between May and June, two of which over the 6f distance by a clear margin.

Sophie Ralston rode all three victories and brings her 7lb claim on board, so this looks the best bet.

I’m going to also give an each-way shout to ZAC BROWN .

He's an incredibly experienced seven-year-old who has a course-and-distance win and also finished second to the aforementioned OEIL DE TIGRE  in June. 

I’m big fan of Gabriele Malune and he could go close at a big price.

MELTING DEW  has won his last two, with hard-fought victories at Chelmsford and then at Sandown.

That most recent victory in the Besso Handicap looks even more impressive given he beat Alfarris, who won the opening race of the festival on Tuesday.

Sir Michael Stoute has had a brilliant few weeks, landing the first two winners on Friday with Mirage Dancer and Regal Reality, so I’m hoping his luck continues here.

The Gordon Stakes is up next and I trust DEE EX BEE  to finally get back to winning ways.

The colt made his debut at this meeting last year, winning the Maiden Stakes by 2¼ lengths.

He followed that up with a brilliant run in the Derby when second as a 20/1 shot, finishing clear of Roaring Lion and Saxon Warrior.

He was very disappointing in the Irish Derby, but did put in a good showing when third in a Group 1 at Longchamp last month.

Silvestre De Sousa is flying at the moment, so I’m confident in his chances.

We’re paying six places in the Stewards’ Cup, so I’m going for two to try and extract some each-way value.

The first is Richard Fahey’s GEORGE BOWEN .

The six-year-old has plenty of experience in these big fields, with a huge six-length victory in a handicap at York in May and most recently at Hamilton last month.

Seb Woods as his claimer on board should also help his chances.

The other one I like is veteran PETTOCHSIDE .

He's a bit of a course specialist with nice handicap wins here last October and in May, and also ran superbly well when runner-up in the Epsom Dash as a 33/1 shot.

Being drawn in stall one is the biggest ask, but he’s got course form and is nicely handicapped at 8-9.

I think Clive Cox’s CLOAK AND DAGGER looks the best bet here.

After disappointing here on debut, he did improve when second at Haydock despite being beaten as an odds-on favourite.

The step up to 7f is an interesting one, but I’m optimistic this will get the best out of this colt.

VALE OF KENT ran a blinder when finishing behind Medahim in the penultimate handicap on Wednesday, and is back again here.

The 7f seems like the ideal distance for this three-year-old and, if he can produce anything like the performance earlier in the week, then he should go close.

I’m going for two each-way shouts for the final race of the festival.  

The first is David O’Meara’s WAARIF , who has won two on the bounce at Carlisle and Pontefract respectively. 

A good performance when second in a handicap at York in June also deserves plaudits, so I think he should be in the mix.

The other I like is MISTER MUSIC .

The experienced nine-year-old does have a course-and-distance victory, albeit back in 2015.

Tony Carroll seems to have got him right back in form since the turn of the year by winning four in a row at Southwell, though he didn’t settle on his return here in May.

Aled Beech rode all four of those victories so hopefully he can go close again.
