Saturday racing tips: Best bets for York and Ascot

Our tipster reveals his best selections from the weekend's racecards, including an each-way double and four Lucky 15 picks.

14.25 ASCOT

This is a difficult handicap to judge, but I’m going to keep faith with Hugo Palmer’s CORROSIVE .

The colt was a course-and-distance winner here in May but disappointed at the Royal meeting in the Britannia Stakes, though he did still finish ahead of one his rivals here in Crack On Crack On .

A narrow defeat to Victoria Cup winner Ripp Orf two weeks ago at Newmarket was quite encouraging and, with James Doyle in flying form, I’m hoping he can get us off to a good start.

14.40 YORK

Moving over to York now for the 6f Dash where, despite carrying top weight, I think INTISAAB will take all the beating.

The seven-year-old has plenty of experience with 45 runs under his belt and seems to relish these big handicaps.

He was a superb winner last weekend in the Scurry Handicap at Curragh, where he came right from the back of the field to power home by just under a length.

This track seems to really get the best out of him with two seconds and a course-and-distance win from three runs.

David O’Meara was second in this race last year and should be optimistic of challenging again.

15.00 ASCOT

We’re paying a whole seven places in the International Stakes, so I'm going for two each-way fancies here.

The first is Roger Varian’s SPANISH CITY .

The five-year-old has four wins and three places from 12 trips, including a nice handicap win at Doncaster, a creditable sixth here in the Victoria Cup and a decent runner-up spot last time out in the Bunbury Cup.

Proven over 7f and nicely handicapped at 8-7, I think he’s got a great each-way chance.

The other one I like is Ian Williams’ SHADY MCCOY .

He’s another with huge experience in these type of races and finished in a dead-heat for second in the Bunbury Cup with the aforementioned SPANISH CITY .

The eight-year-old seems to really like Ascot, having run here six times, including a course-and-distance win last year in the Veolia Handicap.

He finished really strongly having faced a lot of traffic in his previous run, and I think he'l challenge here.

15.40 ASCOT

I’ve been grappling with this race all week.

I think Crystal Ocean is the better of Sir Michael Stoute’s pair and I’m not sure we’ll see enough rain to suit Cracksman , which is why I’m going for an each-way punt on stablemate CORONET .

A Royal Ascot winner here in 2017 in the Ribblesdale Stakes sits nicely on the CV, and he also finished third in the Champions Fillies and Mares Stakes in October.

She blitzed the field in the Group 2 Middleston Stakes at York during the Dante meeting and was just denied a Group 1 at Saint Cloud at the start of the month.

Olivier Peslier has flown over for the ride, has good success on this course from the Royal meeting and claimed the Silver Saddle during the 2014 Shergar Cup.

Having a fillies' allowance here could boost her chances massively, so I think she’s worth an each-way bet.
