14.25 NEWMARKET

TOP PICK: SNAZZY JAZZY

Second choice: Nebo

The Listed Free Handicap is a competitive three-year-old contest, with three co-favourites at the head of the market that can't be split on the morning of the race.

Only four of the 10 runners are at double-figure prices, while there’s just 10lb between the top and bottom weight of the field on official ratings.

Rufus King is the only course-and-distance winner in the line-up, and is from the in-form Mark Johnston stable.

Seven of the runners are coming back from breaks of more than 150 days, and that could be significant given the 10 previous winners of this race had all come into the contest fresh from a half-year hiatus from racing.

There hasn’t been a winner bigger than 6/1 in that time, though only three clear favourites have been successful, which should point us in the direction of the second and third favourites.

SNAZZY JAZZY is extremely well thought of by trainer Clive Cox and was unbeaten as a two-year-old. He seems to be on a very nice mark with that considered and should take a lot of beating.

14.40 CHELTENHAM

TOP PICK: VOIX D'EAU

Second choice: Cepage

This is the time of year when we have to tread carefully in National Hunt races, since some of the contenders will have had very long seasons, and this race could just be a final stretch of the legs before having a deserved rest.

There are also unlikely to be any secrets from the handicapper, though this is a wide-open chase and we still have to earn the money!

Harry Fry has won this race two seasons running and his 2016 winner VOIX D’EAU comes into this with lots in his favour.

It’s important to note that he was pulled-up in the 2017 renewal, but the key factor there was his run at the Festival a month earlier.

This time, he's had a 145-day break and goes up against horses that are running almost monthly.

He was having his first run since December the previous year when victorious in 2016, much like today, which makes him a cracking each-way bet as well as a solid selection for this competition.

15.15 CHELTENHAM

TOP PICK: VIVAS

Second choice: Red Tornado

We stay at Prestbury Park for a handicap hurdle and, with 8/1 the field on early prices, any 4 To Win winner this afternoon will really have earned their money.

Nine of the last 10 winners of this race were seven years old or younger.

Another consideration to eliminate a portion of the field is to take out all of the horses set to carry 11st 3lb or more, since no winners of this race this decade had carried that much weight.

VIVAS conforms with the recent trends and could find some improvement on this drier ground.

He has a capable rider in Jonathan Burke and the stable of Charlie Longsdon are on a high after a winner at Aintree last week.

15.35 NEWMARKET

TOP PICK: ZAIN HANA

Second choice: Nyaleti

The prestigious Group 3 Nell Gwyn Stakes is the final race on the path to the prize, with three-year-old fillies hoping to prove their classic credentials.

Four of the last 10 winners of this race were clear market leaders, although that picture is clouded by the fact that four other winners during this period returned at double-figure starting prices.

John Gosden has won this race three times in the last decade, including the last two seasons.

His Nawassi will be popular here, but does look a little short of this Group level.

ZAIN HANA had one of the best debuts according to the clock, but comes into this race off the back of just one run. That has inflated her price and she could be a touch of value.

15.35 Newmarket: Zain Hana
