13.50 NEWBURY

The Denford Stakes is up first and, in the battle of the two-year-olds, and I think Richard Hannon’s BOITRON will take all the beating.

His record of two from two so far includes a brilliant four-length victory here on debut, while he also handled the step up to 7f last time out at Doncaster.

Having Silvestre De Sousa in the saddle only strengthens his chances, and I think he looks a solid bet here.

14.25 NEWBURY

We have some Group 3 action next, where I think HAMADA  should secure Godolphin another big win.

He’s now won four in a row, with the Jorvik Handicap in the opening race of the Dante Festival and a demolition last time out in the Gordon’s Handicap, where he flew home by seven lengths, standing out as particular highlights.

Given those victories have been over 1m 2f, 1m 3f, 1m 4f and 1m 6f, Saturday’s task of 1m 5f shouldn’t prove an issue.

14.45 NEWMARKET

Moving over to Newmarket, I think STAXTON looks a good bet in the 6f handicap.

A course-and-distance victory here last month sits nicely on an impressive CV that also contains big handicap wins at Haydock, one of which was as a 50/1 shot on debut.

He's also run well at York and Newcastle in big fields, so the only concern is the fact he's carrying top weight at 9-7.

PJ McDonald was the man to ride him to victory here last month and is the man on board again.

15.35 NEWBURY

We'll end with the Hungerford Stakes, the big Group 2 of the day, where I think LIBRISA BREEZE  looks a nice price.

The six-year-old was superb at Ascot on Champions Day, winning the Sprint Stakes by 1¼ lengths ahead of the likes of Tasleet, Caravaggio, Harry Angel and The Tin Man.

He was very disappointing in Meydan and didn’t really settle on the ground in the Diamond Jubilee.

But a decent effort in the Group 1 De Gheest at the start of the month deserves praise, and the decision to step up to 7f here could be a wise one.

I’ve often backed against Tony Bloom’s horses in the past, so I’m hoping that he delivers a big win here.
