13:50 DONCASTER

TOP PICK: STRICT TEMPO

Second choice: Prairie Spy

This Nursery handicap features 14 juvenile horses, only two of which have failed to win during their first season of racing.

One of those, Lady Cosette, will be towards the head of the market having finished second at Windsor last time out.

But I’d prefer to select one of the contenders that has already got their head in front in a race.

STRICT TEMPO was a winner at Nottingham over 6f last time and has a progressive profile. She looks nicely weighted for the Andrew Balding stable, which has been in great form over the last two weeks with the number of winners in double figures.

14:25 DONCASTER

TOP PICK: DUBAI BEAUTY

Second choice: Dutch Treat

This is a classy race over 1m for young female horses.

Half of the winners during the last decade were favourites, with three of the others second favourites, so it may pay to look towards the head of the market.

Likely favourite DUBAI BEAUTY was so impressive on debut that she should be trusted to win this, admittedly better, race.

By Frankel, she stretched out to win at Newmarket and should follow up here.

15:00 DONCASTER

TOP PICK: GOD GIVEN

Second choice: Pilaster

This seven-runner race that can be divided between four horses at the head of the market and then three rank outsiders, with not much in between.

Six of the last eight winners were aged four, so that looks a good place to start.

Plenty of respect should be given to Isabel De Urbina from the Ralph Beckett stable. They have been responsible for the last two winners of the race, including the huge-priced Alyssa last year.

GOD GIVEN seems to tick a few boxes and she has knocked on the door of decent Group Two events having won the Group Three Betway Pinnacle Stakes at Haydock back in June.

15:35 DONCASTER

TOP PICK: CRITICAL DATA

Second choice: The Irish Rover

Here we have another valuable juvenile race, with plenty of winning form on offer. With over 20 runners, it will take a degree of luck to end up on the right side of the track.

A quick glance at the recent winners of this race suggests that you need to be in extremes of the draw, either very high or very low.

Only two favourites have won this contest over the last decade, with the 2013 winner returning at an enormous 100/1.

The Richard Hannon stable tend to do well with two-year-olds, and they have CRITICAL DATA drawn right at the top of the house in 22.

His win at Wolverhampton last time looked good on the clock and, in his last six races, he has placed four times and won twice.
