Aintree on Saturday

The run of Ahoy Senor in in the Charlie Hall Chase was too bad to be true. He was so keen and full of zip on his first run of the season that he ruined his own chances with his vibrancy. That run should have taken that fizz out of him and he’s the one to beat here (13:30). He loves Aintree, too.

Noble Yeats is being touted as a Gold Cup horse. If he is to grow into one, he would need to win this.

The Becher Chase (14:05) is run over the Grand National fences and I see that Gesskile is near the head of the market. I know he was unlucky last time, but Percussion was third and staying-on, so I can’t see why he’s four times the price. I’ll be siding with him.

Sandown on Saturday

The Tingle Creek is one of the biggest trials for the Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase and I’d love to see Shishkin come back to form. He’s been savage in his career so far, but clearly something was amiss in March when he was pulled up early. If he’s back to his best, he should be winning this and doing it in good style. I’d love to see him bounce back.

Fairyhouse on Saturday

Facile Vega will likely be the shortest price runner of the weekend and he’s going to be one of the most exciting horses we see. He was obviously so good in bumpers last season and he’s already the favourite for the Supreme Novices in March. I hope he impresses as he could really be special.
