Galway runners

It’s no surprise that Jumping Jet  has been purchased by a big owner. He won a bumper by half the track on his only start when trained by Barry Fitzgerald and is now in the care of Gordon Elliot. He could be very good in the 13:10.

The Beginners Chase (13:42) looks a hot contest, doesn’t it? I think there’ll be plenty of winners come from this race. I think that Sams Profile will be hard to beat if he jumps round, considering that he's on his beloved soft ground. He’s run in some of the better hurdle races in his career, although he’s clearly not the easiest to train. He hasn’t been seen since winning the Galmoy Hurdle last year, but has plenty of natural ability

I’d love to see Theatre World  win for Ross and his lovely owners (14:17). He was so unlucky last time. He would have won if he didn’t tip up at the last and must have another good chance again.

Ballywilliam Boy ran well in Galway last month and, while he doesn’t always show it, he does have bits and bobs of half decent form. On the best of it, he can go close in this small-field contest (15:27).

Favori De Champdou hasn’t been out for nearly two years, but they’ve kept him in training and held on to him, which would suggest he’s been showing up very well at home. He could go well (16:02).

Kilbarry Chloe might be up against two really smart prospects in Moon Rise Beauty and See A Stride, but as they’re unraced under rules, we just don’t know. She could put her experience to good use in the 17:10. She’s run well in each of her three starts and sometimes in this sphere experience can be the difference.

Aintree runner

At Aintree, the feature race is the Old Roan Chase. It looks really competitive, but, although he’ll be a big price, I do think Midnight Shadow  has some very good form in the book. If he comes back to his best form, he’s got a real squeak. I’ll be watching with interest (15:00).
