Thurles

It’s always hard to oppose unbeaten horses and that is true with Gerri Colombe (13:30) in the opener. He’s just made it all look so easy in each pf his starts and if he wins at this trip, you’d expect him to be aiming for the Albert Bartlett at the Cheltenham Festival.

Western Sea (14:05) runs for Ross and he’s in good form. He was good last time, and he has no weight to carry, so he could sneak into the prize money places. Fingers crossed, anyway.

Jeremys Flame (14:40) was good last time, she sluiced up. It didn’t work for her last season, for whatever reason, but she’s been good this season and has the recent run and fitness on her side. This is a nice opportunity for her.

Allaho (15:15) should win the Horse and Jockey. He’s simply the best horse in the race. I’ll never forget his performance in last year’s Ryanair and while it’ll never be known if he’d have won had Asterion Forlonge stood up in the John Durkan, he was still in the lead and did end up winning.

Lingfield

Darver Star (14:25) was right back to hid old back over hurdles last time. He barely broke sweat beating some above average horses and I think it’s great that Gavin (Cromwell) is sending him over to Lingfield. The new Winter Million looks fantastic – there’s plenty of prize money on offer. ARC and Lingfield need to be commended for putting this on and I hope the Festival continues to build in time.

Itchy Feet (15:00) is my selection in the Fleur Du Lys Chase. He’s ran twice this season and finished second both times and he’s run well each time. He’s likely been kept for this race and the great prize money on offer!
