Hell Red  makes his debut for Paul Nicholls in the 13:40, who is always a man to follow at this opening meeting.

He’s a French import who finished second on his only start. It wouldn’t be the biggest surprise if he was ready first time up for his new connections.

Though he might not end up being the best of these over fences, I do think Fusil Raffles  will be very tough to beat in the 15:22 with his recent run under his belt.

He’s got that all-important first run over fences in the bag and that should pay dividends. He was a smart horse over hurdles, too.

Limerick on Sunday

Commandingpresence  won with his head in his chest on the last day and he’s going to take some stopping again.

He looked a horse with huge potential, and I think he’ll give Rachael Blackmore a winning ride in the opener (13:00). 

The Munster National (16:00) is the big race of the day, and I think Doctor Duffy will go really well. You need a horse who jumps and stays, and this lad does just that.

He was a good third in the Kerry National and, to me, he has the right profile for this race.

Djingle  only has three opponents against him in the 15:30, but he has shown a good level of form and beat a smart horse called Ornua on his penultimate start.

He finished in mid-field behind Saint Roi over hurdles last time out, and that run will have put him spot-on for his return to fences.
