Katie Walsh: My horses to watch on Sunday
The Betway ambassador picks out her fancies for Sunday's racing at Fairyhouse.
The Juvenile (12:30) is a competitive little race but the vibes around Willie Mullins’ SAINT SAM have been strong and I’m looking forward to seeing him getting going.
He’s giving weight away as he has a penalty to carry, but if he can bring his French form to the table, then he’s got every chance of doing so.
I think we all know that BALLYADAM could be the one to beat in the 13:05, but he’s got a huge reputation and you need to see them do it a few times before you can let their reputation take over.
It’s going to be a great race to watch, especially as Dad has one in Dewcup, who will be much better suited back to 2m.
He’s now running off levels with Cask Mate, who he gave 10lb to last time out, so I expect him to get much closer.
I think everyone in racing wants ENVOI ALLEN to win the Drinmore (13:35). He’s the horse that we’re all hoping is the next superstar, which is what racing needs.
I just hope he does what we think he’ll do and puts in another superb round of jumping.
If CAPTAIN CJ puts his latest run when he was pulled up behind him, he could play a huge part in the Porterstown (14:05). He’s got some cracking form in the bag from last season and could play a part at the finish if he stays this trip.
Getting 7lb from the boys should be the difference between winning and losing for HONEYSUCKLE , who is having her first start of the season in the 14:35.
It’s very hard to give good horses weight and she’s up there with the best hurdlers, so - providing she’s in grand form first time up - she should be tough to beat.
