Lalor did his last fast piece of work on Friday ahead of Doncaster. I took him to Stuart Kittow’s and he galloped over five furlongs three times. All went well and he seems in great form.

There doesn’t appear to be much rain in the forecast next week, so we’ll have to see how things are looking nearer the time. We’re keeping all our options open.

Taunton on Saturday

We run The Major  in the opening handicap hurdle at Taunton on Saturday (13:05).

There are 17 runners, so it’s not going to be easy, but I think he could go very well. He’s run on quickish ground before and the trip should suit him. We’d be hopeful.

Rex Dingle rides him so we’re taking 5lbs off. He’s been to ride out at ours before and we know him well from the point-to-point world. He’s doing very well at the moment.

Busy day at Exeter

We’ve got three runners at Exeter on Sunday and first up is Floresco in the handicap hurdle (13:10).

He ran well at big odds last time at Taunton, but he’s up in grade here. Lorcan Williams is back on him. We’ll ride him the same way and see what happens.

The ground and trip should be fine. He might be a bit better left-handed but it should all be OK.

Diablerets is back over hurdles (14:10), but he really has to pull his finger out.

We’re trying a tongue tie on him for the first time which we hope will eke out some much-needed improvement.

This will be Dorrana’s second career start (16:30). She ran in quite a hot bumper at Exeter last month and ran on really well at the end.

She’s come on a lot for the run and she’ll be better prepared on Sunday. We hope she’s learned a bit more since then and she’s one for the future.

Millanisi Boy

Millanisi Boy ran well for a long way at Plumpton and he definitely would have needed it. He’ll probably go to Ffos Las in three weeks for a 2m 7f handicap chase.

Hopefully the rain will have arrived by then as he loves to get his toe in.

Altior unbeatable

They say you should never be scared of one horse, but I’m pretty certain every trainer would be scared of Altior.

He’s a brilliant two-mile chaser and the Clarence House looks his for the taking before trying to win another Betway Champion Chase.
