Kayley Woollacott on Lalor and her husband Richard's legacy
In part one of our video series, Kayley discusses how much their 'lottery ticket' of a horse means to the family and what he can achieve this season.
This season, Betway are proud to be sponsoring National Hunt trainer Kayley Woollacott and her Devon-based stable.
Kayley took over her husband Richard’s training license after he took his own life in January 2018 following a long struggle with mental illness.
A few months after Richard’s death, Kayley took their stable star Lalor back to Aintree, where he followed up a 2017 Grade 2 Bumper win with victory in the Grade 1 Betway Top Novices’ Hurdle.
Now, she’s sending him over fences in pursuit of another Grade 1 triumph, with Lalor in the latest horse racing betting to win the Arkle at next year's Cheltenham Festival.
In this introductory video, we talk to Kayley – as well as champion jockey Richard Johnson and Lalor’s owner David Staddon – about what makes their “lottery ticket” of a horse so special and how they hope he can help to continue Richard’s legacy.
