There are five meetings across Britain and Ireland on Monday in what represents a relatively busy start to the week.

Afternoon fare comes on the all-weather from Wolverhampton and Kempton, while later on, they race on the Flat at Windsor and Hamilton with the jumps card at Ballinrobe sandwiched in between.

We've got three picks to start the new racing week, including one for in-form trainer William Haggas in the feature race at Hamilton.

SELECTIONS

SAIL ON SILVERBIRD   (16:10 Wolverhampton)

ONLY ONE PLAN  (18:20 Ballinrobe)

DUBAWI WARRIOR  (19:40 Hamilton)

Warrior can land Hamilton feature for in-form Haggas

The race of the day on Monday comes from Hamilton Park via the Allstone Group Scottish Trophy Handicap over nine furlongs and due off at 19:40, with a field of eight runners ensuring solid each-way terms for punters.

Three horses at the foot of the racecard are likely to dominate the market.

Gainsbourg has won his last two for trainer Daragh Bourke and the gelded son of Sixties Icon could find more still now stepping up in trip, while Jim Goldie's Shine On Brendan landed a six-runner race over just shy of this trip on heavy ground here last week, making it two wins in his last three in doing so.

He's 2lb higher now but has Alex Jary claiming 7lb in the saddle for this Monday evening Hamilton feature and, having won on heavy here last time, conditions are favourable again.

That duo are passed over in favour of easy Pontefract maiden winner DUBAWI WARRIOR   for William Haggas.

The Dubawi colt was back from a short break for what was his third career start when coming away to win by five lengths at the Yorkshire layout over a mile on good-to-soft ground and, on that evidence, this opening mark of 80 could be well within his scope.

With the Haggas team in cracking form, boasting a 27 per cent strike-rate across recent weeks, he looks the one to side with in the Hamilton feature.

Silverbird has something to give on AW return

SAIL ON SILVERBIRD   is a lightly-raced filly for trainer Michael Bell and may have some value to offer on her return to a synthetic surface at Wolverhampton (16:10).

She outran odds of 50/1 on debut in October, finishing third at Kempton, in what was her only start as a two-year-old.

She returned here over the extended mile in April and probably did too much in forcing the pace in front before fading. Next time, back down at this trip, she was ridden with more restraint and finished her race off quite nicely in third, only just denied getting up for the silver medal late on as the front pair in the betting filled the first two places.

She was a little disappointing soon after on handicap/turf bow at Wetherby (7f, good to firm) but she took a bump early in that contest and it's not something to hold against her.

A return here looks a positive and, eased 1lb by the assessor, she could be capable of running a big race under Clifford Lee.

Rothwell's Plan can land Ballinrobe contest

Philip Rothwell has a leading claim in the Cummins Homevalue Hardware Handicap Hurdle (18:20) with ONLY ONE PLAN   after the six-year-old finished second over a similar trip three weeks ago.

A winner over two miles at Roscommon in June, Only One Plan was held back there on his next start but ran a fine second here 15 days later.

He found Hearts Are Trumps too strong on that occasion, the veteran finding form to take advantage of a much-reduced rating as the front two pulled clear to fight out the finish.

Only One Plan has gone up 3lb for that runner-up finish but he hasn't got major miles on the clock and this mark should be within his reach at this optimal trip.
