Cue Card has been an absolutely amazing horse.

To win a Champion Bumper at Cheltenham as a four-year-old and sustain his career for so long is very hard to do. He’s been the horse of a lifetime.

The public have really latched onto him and they have always come out in force to watch and support him.

He’s the horse that really put the Tizzards on the map all those years ago.

I’ve never actually ridden him, but I’ve ridden against him plenty of times.

It’s his longevity that really sets him apart from most other horses.

He hasn’t missed a season from four to 12 and he has run at the top level during that time. That really is incredible.

His enthusiasm for the game has been phenomenal. He’ll be well looked after and have a very happy retirement.

It’s lovely that everyone will be able to see him paraded at Sandown on the last day of the season.

Cheltenham on Wednesday

The ground is finally starting to dry out, so it’s no real surprise that we’ve got some very big fields at Cheltenham on Wednesday.

I’ve got five rides, but it’s going to be very competitive.

My first of the day is Gosheven for Philip Hobbs in the opening novices’ hurdle (2.05pm).

He’s quite a nice horse and showed some improvement at Kempton last time.

He would need to improve again as this looks a tough race, but he’s a nice horse for next season.

Verni has been chasing and although he hasn’t run badly, he should appreciate a big field back over hurdles in this handicap (3.15pm).

He ran very well in the Martin Pipe at last year’s Festival, which showed he likes the course, and we can always go back over fences next season where he will remain a novice.

Henry Oliver has been waiting for some good ground for Ozzy Thomas, so I’m looking forward to getting on him in the novices’ handicap chase (3.50pm).

He’s got plenty of experience, which should stand him in good stead.

Steely Addition has won his last two handicaps nicely and seems to be improving.

This is his first season at Philip’s and we’re hoping he can carry on his progression in the three mile handicap hurdle (4.25pm).

My final ride of the day is Singlefarmpayment in the handicap chase (5.00pm), who has run some very good races around Cheltenham.

This is another wide open contest but if he can put his best foot forward, he must have a decent chance on form.
