Our first week with runners and three winners from six made it a decent start.
Here’s a summary of those performances* and whether the individual horses have been released or retained.
You can see the stable as it stands in full here.
*Betway are boosting the prices of runners from Richard’s stable. Prices displayed below were original boosted prices.
GAVI DI GAVI: RETAINED
Won @ 16/1 (Fri 7 July, 17:25 Sandown)
A dream and, admittedly, slightly lucky start as the second horse, Roman Dynasty, met trouble in running. He travelled well, though, and the removal of the cheekpieces seems to have helped him settle. His turf mark remains below his All-Weather mark and he should remain competitive up to a mile on grass.
BRIDESTONES: RELEASED
3rd @ 11/2 (Sat 8 July, 15:00 Sandown)
She ran OK – was a little deep on the track but battled on to just hold third. It was a bunch finish and, while just being beaten by a 103-rated horse in second looks OK, they were both beaten by a horse rated 78. Marginal call but her connections may persist with Group races, so will release.
TIME LOCK: RELEASED
4th @ 8/1 (Sat 8 July, 14:40 Haydock)
She travelled better and, two furlongs out, looked set to be involved but, as at Goodwood first time, her finishing effort was a little tame. More rain may have suited but it is beginning to look as if she doesn’t find a massive amount for pressure. These types of horse can be expensive holds and, reluctantly, she gets released.
LADY PINK ROSE: RETAINED
Won @ 8/11 (Sat 8 July, 14:50, Beverley)
She wasn’t added for a very short-priced and relatively unimpressive victory at Beverley, so is left on for her next run – presumably in Listed or Group 3 company against her own sex.
INSANITY: RETAINED
Unplaced @ 15/8 (Sun 9 July, 14:10 Chelmsford)
Ran no sort of race at Chelmsford, getting a little warm beforehand and always three deep with no cover dropping right out. This was clearly not his running and will always be the sort of horse I will give another chance to as the odds will be much better next time. Quite often a horse who knows too little first time then tries to do too much, too soon on their next start. Next time will be a better guide and at better odds, so he is retained.
MISS SLIGO: RELEASED
Won @ 9/4 (Mon 10 July, 20:40 Chepstow)
Showed the battling attitude she had displayed at Bath to win at Chepstow on Monday. She is an example of how, in a low-grade race, a horse that has won races in the past can be an asset. Her wins have all been around this level so off a higher mark and with a win against her name she is let go.
