It’s fantastic to be back riding at Cheltenham and Aintree, a true sign that the jumps season is getting back into full swing.

I couldn’t have asked for a better start after winning on board Master Dancer (3.10pm) in my first ride back at Cheltenham, which should set me up for a great weekend of rides.

Cheltenham on Saturday

I ride Coologue    in the 3m1f handicap chase (2.00pm), and the signs look good after he won the race last year off the same handicap mark.

He loves a left-handed track and course form at Cheltenham is key.

Solstice Star  is my ride in the Pertemps Qualifier handicap hurdle (3.45pm) for trainer Martin Keighley.

He racked up a succession of wins a couple of seasons ago, and has been mixing his trade between fences and hurdles recently.

These days he is higher in the handicap but should enjoy the step up to three miles and has a chance in what is very open contest.

Robbin’Hannon  (4.55pm) looks to be my best chance of a winner this weekend.

He won a low-key contest at Worcester last time out and put in a very good run up at Perth at the end of last season.

Soft ground seems to be the key to him and he is racing off a mark of 142, but should have a very big chance if he runs close to that.

Calett Mad is the main danger and we are giving away 3lbs to him.

Brain Storm  (5.30pm) is my final ride of the day at Cheltenham.

He is an ex Irish Point-to-Point winner and finished fifth in a bumper last time out, which he is bound to improve from.

This is a typically competitive Cheltenham bumper, but he has an each-way chance.

Aintree on Sunday

Costly Dream (12.40pm) is a nice young horse who I ride in the maiden hurdle.

He looks sure to run a nice race for Philip Hobbs but might lack the racing experience.

Mister First (1.50pm) is a horse that I won on last year at Perth and he is a grand old servant who will be well suited by a strong gallop.

These veteran races are great to see all the old horses come back year-on-year.

Sneaky Feeling (2.25pm) is my ride in the handicap hurdle.

He won two novice hurdles last year and has lots of potential.

He looks to have a great chance after maturing over the summer.

Royal Regatta (3.00pm) ran well in last year’s Old Roan Chase and would have fared much better barring a mistake three-out.

He has had his wind issues, but running early in the season seems to get the best out of him.
