13:40 Newmarket - Find 7/4
Maiden races are some of the hardest in which to find winners as you simply don’t know how good they are, but I was impressed with Find on his debut at Yarmouth, where only greenness caught him out. He ran well for a long way and made headway when the pace of the race quickened.
I’ll be surprised if he’s not right there at the business end of this race.
14:30 Ascot - Masekela (each way) 5/1
I was so impressed with the way that Masekela won on his debut at Goodwood a few weeks ago. He showed greenness in the early stages of the race but learned as the race went on and Oisin Murphy has since said that he really likes this horse. He looked above average on his debut, and I expect him to be very tough to beat.
16:20 Ascot - Art Power (each way) 6/1
The rain that has fallen will suit Art Power. Although he was disappointing on his seasonal comeback, he has run well at the top level before. His yard has had a great season so far and remain in good form. With that run under his belt, I think he’ll be right there at the death.
18:00 Haydock - Constanta 100/30
Constanta looks set to break her maiden tag at the third time of asking. She caught the eye at Newmarket on her debut, even though it all happened a bit quick for her, but she stepped up again to finished fourth over course and distance last time. This race looks weaker and she should be getting off the mark.
18:10 Ascot - Stag Horn (each way) 13/2
Horses that have won on heavy ground are going to be the order of the day on Saturday, so Stag Horn is a good bet. He racked up a sequence last term, winning stylishly on both soft and heavy ground and ran well for a long way behind Stradivarius on fast ground on his seasonal come back.
With that run under his belt, and in his favoured conditions, I think he’ll go very well under Hollie Doyle.
4 To Win selections
15:05 - Storm Damage 20/1
Once-raced winner, who looked very smart on his debut. Could be the fly in the ointment in this contest.
15:40 - Wonderful Tonight 7/2
Loves soft ground and is a genuine Group One performer.
17:00 - Rohaan 9/1
Improving sprinter, who won well on heavy ground at Haydock last time.
17:35 - Foxes Tales 12/1
Too green at Chester last time but will have learned from that and is related to soft-ground winners.
