Three seconds made Thursday a tough one, but this is a new day and I’m quietly confident on landing the win double.

With two days of racing still to come, that means there are still two more races where you’re covered whoever you back.

Starlight Mystery a big price for Albany Stakes

We kick off with the 2.30pm Albany Stakes, where 21 are entered to battle the 6f.

A lot of this field are unbeaten having won their debuts, so it’s quite tough to measure just how good some of these fillies are.

Brave Anna caused a bit of an upset in this race last year, and I reckon there could be another surprise winner this time around.

That’s why I’ve gone with Mark Johnston’s STARLIGHT MYSTERY.

She’s got more experience than the rest of the field, having already ran four times since April – recording two wins, a second and a third.

Wins at Brighton and Ripon were two gutsy performances and she followed that up with an impressive runner-up to Denaar at Newbury last month.

That was her first trip over 6f and she’s clearly proven she can handle the step up.

Silvestre De Sousa will be hoping he can turn his decent run of form into some Ascot winners, and at I think she’s a big each-way shout.

Sir Michael Stoute set for back-to-back wins in King Edward VII Stakes

Up next is the 3.05pm King Edward VII Stakes, which was won last year by Sir Michael Stoute’s Across The Stars, and the trainer looks set to repeat that triumph again.

CRYSTAL OCEAN started his career with a runner-up at Newbury over 7f but has improved a lot since then.

The colt then won by two lengths at Nottingham at the end of April before putting in a very good performance when third in the Dante Stakes.

He was beaten by Permian that day but after a bit of a disappointing run in the Derby, I think he can reverse the form.

At , he looks a safe bet for Andrea Atzeni to guide home.

Caravaggio could set course record in Commonwealth Cup

Next up is the first Group 1 of the day, the 3.40pm Commonwealth Cup, where I can only see one emphatic outcome.

CARAVAGGIO has been my NAP of the week and, although Godolphin’s Harry Angel is impressive, nothing has changed my mind.

Aidan O’Brien’s star is five from five, including a very impressive display to win the Coventry Stakes last year.

His performance last time out at Naas was one of his best where he blew the field away and won by just under five lengths.

It’s been a good week for course records, and I think he’s got a great chance of breaking it here over 6f. Not great value at , but I think he’s a banker.

If that’s too short then maybe have an each-way punt on French colt STRAIGHT RIGHT.

He won his first two races in style at Deauville and Cagnes over 7f but hasn’t quite replicated that in his last two where he tried out over both 5f and 6f.

Olivier Peslier guided Coronet to victory in yesterday’s Ribblesdale Stakes and is the man on board searching for another big win.

I don’t think he’s anywhere near quick enough to win this race but at , he could nick a place.

If anyone can beat Winter, it’s Dabyah

Up next is another Group 1 with the 4.20pm Coronation Stakes, and many of you would have had Winter as your bet of the week.

She’s rightly favourite, having completed the 1000 Guineas double assertively for O’Brien and not finished outside the top three in her six runs.

She possess raw, natural speed and is going to be very tough to beat.

However, I’m going to take her on with DABYAH.

John Gosden’s filly has also been very impressive and is three from three in the UK after two victories at Newbury and on debut at Newmarket.

The first at Newbury last September, she made very short work of the field, sailing home by nine lengths.

She wasn’t as impressive when she finished third at Chantilly but recovered in the Dubai Duty Free Stakes last time out, when she looked back to her imposing self.

It’s a big ask but at , I think she’s big value to cause an upset.

Mark Johnston has done homework for Queen’s Vase

The Queen’s Vase takes centre stage at 5.00pm, and I think this could be a big chance for Silvestre De Sousa to grab a win.

He rides TIME TO STUDY, who I backed when he won at Musselburgh, and I expect him to get the job done again.

An impressive start by the colt in his first five starts (121-31) with all three wins coming over different distances.

He seems to answer all the questions Johnston keeps asking of him and being the only one in the field to have won over 1m 5f could be a big factor.

At , I think he’s the best bet here.

Unbeaten Wadigor has better chance of Roger Varian pair

We finish the day in the 5.35pm Duke Of Edinburgh, which is another tough one to call.

Roger Varian has two big fancies in this with course and distance winner Appeared and WADIGOR but I think the latter has the best chance.

The four-year-old is unbeaten so far with three wins at Wolverhampton, Newmarket and Kempton.

In the three wins, he’s won them all by a total of 10½ lengths – including seven at Newmarket in October.

Silvestre De Sousa is the man on board and at I think he could be in for a quick-fire double in the last two races.

If you want an each-way chance then I think Hugo Palmer’s BAYDAR is well priced at .

The colt has been very hit or miss so far, winning four on the bounce last season before placing dead last in his last two.

Young jockey David Egan rides for the first time and has been in scintillating form lately with three wins and six seconds from his last 12 rides.

If he can apply some of that form to this four-year-old then he should have a chance.
