14:15 CHELTENHAM

If there is one horse in this race that has the potential to develop into a Grade 1 performer, it’s Nicky Henderson’s MISTER FISHER , who ran a good race in the Marsh Chase at the Festival back in March.

He has always been very highly thought of and had he not been rated 155, I doubt his connections would have been opting for a handicap for him.

He was awesome at Cheltenham on his second start over fences in December and we’re yet to see the best of him as he is only six and will still improve.

His trainer won this race in 2003 with Fondmort, who went on to win the Ryanair Chase, which Mister Fisher is currently 25/1 to win in March.

I’d suspect something like the Peterborough Chase would also be on his agenda this season.

At a bigger price, The Russian Doyen ran very well at Fontwell in what would have been his prep race for this.

His stable haven’t really been firing since the start of this National Hunt season but have been among the winners this week. He could be improving and may have slipped under the radar.

He was a good fourth at the Cheltenham Festival in 2019 and hasn’t had too much racing since.

GOLAN FORTUNE is becoming a popular horse on the Betway Insider as I flagged him in my horses to follow blog.

He has had two runs this season, the first being at Cheltenham in October and he was a huge eye-catcher on that day. He loves it around here and won this race last year.

He finished a good fourth at Aintree last weekend and, if he’s in that same kind of form, should go very well under Sam Lee, who claims 7lb off his back.

At the bottom of the field is Debestyman , who was a very good second at Cheltenham last time out.

He was running a massive race at Kempton earlier in the year before unseating his rider at the last and that form is as good as anything else in this field. He’s still improving and has a very nice racing weight.

Horses in form are always hard to oppose and CAPTAIN TOM CAT , whose course and distance success here in October sealed a hat-trick of wins, must go well again. He’s a strong traveller and if he gets into a good early rhythm, he could give his promising young rider Cillian Leonard a very good spin.

Behind him in that recent course win was Whatsupwithyou , who ran a better race than the finishing position would suggest.

Ben Pauling’s six year old is still lightly raced and the form of his British Debut success at Ascot last season has worked out well. If things go right for him, I expect him to outrun his price too.

The Betway Golden Rose Stakes has attracted a strong field of 12 that includes last year’s winner JUDICIAL , who has had a good, yet rather lightly raced campaign. His connections have likely been keeping him fresher for an Autumn campaign. Paul Mulrennan, who is riding at the top of his game, takes the ride and I expect him to be played late, as he was last year.

Sunday Star hasn’t had things fall into her lap this season, but I’m convinced we haven’t seen the best of her yet and her third in a Group 3 at York in July is very solid form. If things fall right for her, she could run a huge race too.
