TINTO has improved dramatically from the start of his three-year-old season, when he was rated 77.

In 18 months, the Amanda Perrett-trained four-year-old is now rated 103 and has made great strides in his career.

He is the type of horse that could be campaigned at the Betway All Weather Sprint Final at Lingfield Park next April, too.

I think he’ll go well in this race, as he’s a winner on soft ground and ran a very good second at Kempton Park recently.

Aplomb was drawn on the wrong side at York last time out and can also run a huge race with Tom Marquand on his back. 

15:00 CHELTENHAM

The ground was deemed too quick for HOMETOWN BOY  to run in the Silver Trophy at Chepstow a couple of weeks ago, but this week’s rainfall over Prestbury Park will have been welcomed by his trainer Stuart Edmunds.

His five-year-old ran some great races in defeat last season, including a good performance at Market Rasen when only going down by under four lengths to Fabulous, who is now a 10/1 shot for the Stayers’ Hurdle.

His official mark of 130 looks fair and I expect him to run a big race under Ciaran Gethings.

Debestyman  ran a huge race over three miles at Cheltenham last December.

He led the field until after the final flight where he faded into fifth. This 2m 5f trip should suit him well, but he does come off the back of a poor run at Uttoxeter last time, when he only beat one rival home.

Golan Fortune is one of my horses to follow, and, while I think he’ll run well here off top weight, I do think he’ll come on for the run and will be better with more cut in the ground.

15:35 CHELTENHAM

ON THE SLOPES  improved massively over fences and ended his first season with two smart victories, both at Kempton Park earlier this year.

His trainer Chris Gordon has a great record at improving horses as they go over the larger obstacles, and this horse looks like another that will take his trainer to all of the bigger courses.  His front running style and good jumping will aim to put his rivals under the sword from the off.

Ballywood , who went very well in the Grand Annual at this year’s festival, can follow him home after a good recent prep run, which would have put him spot on for this.

17:15 CHELTENHAM

The last race of the day is a competitive handicap hurdle over two miles. Magic Dancer finished second in the race two years ago and a had a good spin at Plumpton recently, which, again, would have put him spot on for this race.

His trainer Kerry Lee also has her horses in grand form.

One True King ran very well in the Champion Bumper at the Festival earlier this year and could have a little in hand over his mark of 125.

He finished third on his debut over hurdles at Stratford in September, but he improved from that run to make light work of a smart field at Uttoxeter just a month later.

With that experience under his belt and the benefit of a recent run, I think he’ll give his jockey Jordan Nailor a good spin.
