13.50 NEWBURY

GOLD SOUK   looked impressive in his last three runs, which included a dominant win at Epsom followed by successive seconds at Ripon and Doncaster.

The form behind World Title at Ripon is particularly impressive given that Archie Watson’s two-year-old has a solid record (31311).

The step up to 1m 2f should suit this Mark Johnston colt perfectly.

14:05 SANDOWN

WELL OF WISDOM   won a nice listed race at Meydan in February so he brings some strong form into this race.

The colt also finished runner-up behind unbeaten Earthlight in Group 3 action at Deauville nearly a year ago and is proven over 7f, so I think it will be another big win for Godolphin here.

14:15 DONCASTER

Across to Doncaster now for a Betway-sponsored handicap where I think Michael Dods’ GALE FORCE MAYA   is the one to watch.

She’s been incredibly consistent since last July (11122) having recorded a hat-trick of victories at Carlisle and ran on well behind Chil Chil last time out at Newmarket.

I think she’s a smart filly and a nice price in this field.

15:35 NEWBURY

Finishing off with the Group 3 Diomed Stakes now and I’m swaying towards another Mark Johnston-Joe Fanning combo in MARIE’S DIAMOND .

The colt won the Betway Paradise Stakes at Newmarket last week in emphatic style with a vintage ride from Silvestre De Sousa.

That was a very strong field which included the likes of Oh This Is Us, Mythical Magic, Vale Of Kent and Lord Tennyson – all of which he sailed over four lengths clear of.

For me, that’s the strongest form and if Fanning can get him out in front again, he’ll take some catching.
