15:30 REDCAR

Tim Easterby is having a superb season, with three winners and two second places on a Sunday at Ripon in July a particularly positive day.

He also debuted a newcomer that day - Showalong , who was supported from a double figure price into 100/30 at the off.

He knew his job and was clearly ready for action, but, as is often the case with newcomers, he ran a little green towards the end of the race and wasn’t given too much of a hard time as they entered the final furlong.

That race will turn out way above average for the grade with the fourth place finishing second in a Group race at York last week.

Showalong finished sixth that day at Ripon but is capable of much better. With that experience under his belt, he should take all of the beating.

16:45 GOODWOOD

There is a lot to like about Junkanoo I would be very surprised if this three-year-old wasn’t rated closer to 100 at the end of his progression.

The Gary Moore-trained gelding is currently rated 84 after being put up 4lbs for his success in an ultra-competitive handicap at Glorious Goodwood a little under a month ago.

When you look back through his form, you’ll see that he started his career in very competitive maiden and novice races, suggesting his trainer thought he was above average.

He was only beaten a neck on his third start in a race that has thrown up winners since.

Moore is known for not rushing horses and only taking them up a level whenever their development allows. Junkanoo is clearly benefitting from easy handling with this run being just his seventh of his career.

He showed enough speed to suggest he wouldn’t be inconvenienced by going down a furlong as he does here and, on all known form, he should be very competitive in this race.
