The Epsom Derby is one of the most highly-anticipated races of the Flat season and the third-biggest betting race in the UK behind the Grand National and Gold Cup.

This year's renewal looks fiercely competitive, with a case to be made for all bar four of the runners in this ultimate test of a racehorse.

So, with money back as a free bet up to £10 if you lose with Betway, I'm going to let you make your own decision and instead focus on my three top tips from the rest of Saturday's racecard.

ZAAKI  was a winner on his last start at Ascot, and has clearly matured and improved since his move to Sir Michael Stoute's yard, which is synonymous with horses that improve with age.

That success at Ascot has been franked since with Barney Roy, who finished second that day, winning earlier this week in France.

The only rival I think is capable of beating him in this seven-runner affair is Andrew Balding's Bye Bye Hong Kong, and that is due to the weight allowance that the three-year-old is getting.

That being said, I'd still be hugely surprised if he has enough class to beat the favourite if they were both in line with two furlongs to go.

Roger Fell is making a name for himself as a trainer who has a talent for rejuvenating horses that have seemingly fallen out of love with the game.

He saddles HAROME  in the Investec Dash – the quickest 5f spirit in the UK as they thunder downhill from the Tattenham Corner start.

The five-year-old led them all a merry dance in a race at York last week before seemingly blowing up inside the final furlong.

However, he didn’t appear to go backwards as much as some of his rivals, and in the end was only beaten 2½ lengths by the in-form Duke of Firenze, who re-opposes again on Saturday.

The confidence appeared to be back, and he’s currently rated 83 – which is lower than his last winning mark.

Drawn in stall 13 under Nicole Currie, he could be too big a price not to back each-way.

The final race on card is a sprint handicap over 6f, where I’d suggest backing the Stuart Williams-trained TAWNY PORT  .

This is a horse who needs everything to go right, but you can be sure that this has been the target since moving to the Newmarket yard.

He won on his seasonal reappearance last year at Pontefract when trained by James Given and, although he has won on soft ground before, he does show a slight preference for a quicker surface with his action and the way he moves.

He’s currently running off a mark of 83, and it is certainly within his capabilities to make that a winning one.

I remember this horse as an improving two-year-old. He’s clearly had a few issues since but, if he’s now back on song, could well find his old spark for his new trainer, who tends to improve sprinters in his care.
