12:25 AINTREE

We start with a Betway-sponsored race over 2m 3f where I like the look of in-form GRANVILLE ISLAND  .

The 11-year-old is the most experienced horse in the race with 42 runs under his belt and has been superb for Jenny Candlish since the turn of the year, winning his last three.

His performance last time out at Leicester in March was probably the most impressive, beating the likes of Beggar’s Wishes, Rock On Rocky and Icing On The Cake.

Proven over this distance, I think the veteran has a big chance here.

13:30 AINTREE

The Becher Chase is up next where Blaklion is looking to repeat last year’s heroics, but I’m going to take him on with the returning DON POLI  .

We’ve not seen the nine-year-old since he was third in the Irish Gold Cup back in February 2017, but he does have the credentials to suggest he can bounce back here.

They include being runner-up to stablemate Outlander in the Lexus Chase in December 2016 and a third in the Gold Cup behind Don Cossack and a second in the Aintee Bowl earlier that year, all of which were fantastic efforts in Grade One company.

Having already proven himself on this course and with Jack Kennedy taking the ride for the first time, he looks a big each-way chance.

14:25 SANDOWN

Over to Sandown now and, while many will be hoping to see Apple’s Shakira bounce back, I’m quite keen on I’M A GAME CHANGER  .

He's a consistent six-year-old with three wins, three seconds and a third from 14 trips so far, with all of those runner-up spots coming in his last three outings.

He has also two nice victories over this distance at Ludlow and did well over fences last time out at Exeter.

He returns over hurdles on Saturday and, with Richard Johnson in the saddle, he should have a good chance.

15:35 SANDOWN

The final tip comes in the last race at Sandown, and I’m going to go for Ian Williams’ RED INFANTRY  .

He’s shown some of his best form in 2018 having won three from a possible six and was only narrowly beaten at Catterick in February.

A victory over 3m 4f at Haydock last time out suggests he should stay on here, while he's also tasted success on this course (albeit over hurdles) back in last 2016.

Well-handicapped at 11-2 and with Robert Dunne on board, who has ridden two of his last three wins, he looks the one to beat here.
