16:15 Ascot  Louganini (each-way)

Any rain that falls over Ascot will be very welcome by the connections of Louganini.

He’s still lightly raced for a five-year-old, but both career wins have come on soft ground. He was a good second at Newmarket on soft ground last season too.

He will improve from his comeback run this season, which was over a trip too short and on ground too quick.

17:12 Warwick  Deeper Blue

I’ve been looking forward to seeing Deeper Blue go over hurdles and he makes his debut here.

He was second on his debut at Southwell before finishing a decent fifth at Taunton in a smart bumper. This looks like a good opportunity for him to get off the mark on his first try over hurdles.

19:35 Thirsk  Frantoio

Frantoio makes his seasonal debut in this novice contest and, following his gelding operation in the winter, I think we’ll see him improve this season, starting here.

He was a good fourth on his debut at Newmarket before disappointing slightly at Kempton on his next start, but he did travel well that day. There was obviously something amiss as they then gelded him. Top northern rider Tony Hamilton takes the ride.

4 TO WIN

14:15 Lingfield – Ocean Road

She improved from her first start to bolt up at Lingfield in December. Interestingly, she has been kept for this race, which tells you the regard she’s held in.

15:25 Lingfield  Bounce The Blues

Ran very well at Doncaster on her seasonal return and this drop back into fillies’ company will suit her well. Conditions are in her favour and she should be tough to beat.

15:40 Ascot – Tinto

This is a horse who be able to find trouble in his own stable! He’s smart on his day and well handicapped on his best form. A fast-paced 7f will suit him well.

16:50 Ascot  Eye Of The Water

He is the highest rated in this race and has some of the best form from last season. He likes cut in the ground so will welcome any rain in Berkshire.
